Do You Prefer Megatron As A Gun, A Tank, Or An Aircraft?

Brings up an interesting question. While on Cybertron, what on earth could Laserbeak and company transform into? If Soundwave becomes a lamppost what would Rumble disguise himself as? A traffic cone? A post box?!

I think Ravage can become an icecream vendor's icecream cart. Rumble is the icecream man. Laserbeak is the icecream cone.
Plus a bonus of the customer in the person..uh..robot of Starscream.

Oh yeah. My vote goes for aircraft. But not the Cybertronian pile of twisted metal crap of Bay. I mean a real earth aircraft.

Gun.
There's no real point in having an alt-mode that gives him more firepower "battle presence" or maneuverability; he's a giant, flying robot with an arm cannon.
There is no purer, more recognizable instrument of death than the gun - plus it's a better disguise.

Only in the comics of DW and IDW
Saber Prime wrote:I mean War Within Megatron IS a Tank and he IS supose to be G1 Megatron BEFORE they came to Earth. That makes his alt mode on Earth a HUGE downgrade.
That depends on many things, Megatron is deadly no matter what alt mode he has.

That's what makes him cool, he's killed more Autobots as a gun than a tank.

Why do you say that? Because of the cartoon? You can't use the comics to back up something then use the cartoon to back up another point. In the War Within Shockwave was a tank too. Seems that the powerful Decepticons think a gun is a better upgrade...

Again, using the cartoon or the comic??? Which is it? You can only have one point of reference for alt modes because every continuity did them differently.
I imagine in the cartoon, Soundwave could change into many different forms as his disguise. Laserbeak was a recording tape of somekind, his robot mode was some kind of Cybertronian bird thing.

Are you thinking of the scrapped WW design? 'Cuz IIRC ol' Shocks was actually portrayed as the G1 space gun in the WW books...anybody?

Soundwave only went from being a lamp post on Cybertron to a tape deck on Earth.
And... "A recording tape of somekind"? It's called a casset tape. That's the only kind of "recording tape" there is. And the odd thing is on Cybertron, he still was a casset tape.

That was only in the design stages of that book....by the time the book went into production he was changed back into a giant ray gun.He is seen in his Ray Gun mode durring the attack on Iacon.

I think when Shockwave is in his gun mode he is meant to be weilded by a gestalt. Maybe that is the idea with Megatron when he is in gun mode, he is weilded also by somebody.
Having a gun that is a robot kind of simplifies things. All you have to do is point and shoot, the gun will do the rest.

As I've yet to see a Megatron tank that I realy like, thats out.
The Jets have been hit or miss, so alright...
The guns I have enjoyed alot! Baring the colors on Classics, I thing that was a great way to pull off the idea. The MP version is awesome but frail and has me wondering why they didn't just go with the type of legs that G1 ShockWave has, or use the extra pannels to make them more sturdy?
But what I'd realy like to see Megatron as ia a Anti Aircraft placement type gun!
That would be cool

Found it!
It's seperated into two galeries:
Robot Mode
AA-Gun Mode
Is that something like what you were thinking of?

I nearly forgot about this! Wasn't Designed right arter the release of MP Prime, as a believable counterpart?
I'm ok with MP Megatron, but I'd love to have gotten something like this instead!!!
It was based on a German gun placement I belive, the piece is amazing, but just imaging how much farther Takara could take it
Oh and Thanks!

Wow, and I saw that long before I ever got a computer, you'd think all this beer would have deteriorated more of my memory, but NOPE!
Take that Goverment Warning and scientific testing!
Also, PRAISE to the creator of that awesome figure! It has me wondering why all these great kitbashers and repainters aren't beating down Hasbro's door for staff positions?

Many Earth lights don't have light comming from them either because the bulb's burned out or because it's still day light.
Middle of a war don't think anyone is going to bother changing light bulbs pluse it wasn't dark enough when we see him to even need street lights on.
What else could he have possibly been?
I'm thinking power line, teliphone pole but no wires. Actully some kind of comunications device, basically a Cybertronian teliphone pole, would actlly make sense. Yep I'm going with Teliphone pole, only thing he could have been that really goes with his name.

Good point about the power and the burnt out bulbs and I like your idea of a Teliphone pole....my theroy was always a communications tower of some kind.

If he was a light post on an engergon depleted Cybertrom wouldn't it make sense that he was stripped bare or everything in an atempt to save whatever?
Also, as someone who travels on alot of highways, I always thought SoundWaves G1 Cybertron form was mor reminisent of a highway guard rail post(the cable kind) stripped bare?
