Hello, I discovered the existence of the Tranfromers Masterpiece line lately and have not a big experience of it, but I know enough to be suspicious of «too good to be true» offers on Ebay. Here is the thing: I spotted a lot of Megatron MP05 (New,in boxes) from the same dealer (lena81822). These are open to billing and they seem to go between 130$-150$. This does not seem a lot for a figure that otherwise go for over 200$ (correct me if I am wrong). The same dealer also sold a lot of Sideswipe figure (loose). I know there has been a «fake alarm» warning on Sideswipe, is it possible that there is fake Megatron out there too? I am not making accusations here, I am just asking questions. The ratings of the dealers are excellent, but still. I want to believe that it is possible to buy a MP05 for around 140$, but what do you guys think of it?
Cheers!

I haven't come across a fake/KO MP-05 yet. But you are correct, there's a lot of fake Lambors out there.

that megatron is the real deal.... it is selling so cheap because MP-05 ended up being a stellar floppy piece of junk.... to the point i gave mine away. now i am waiting for megatron 2.0 or galvatron.
and on those ko Lambors, i have seen them, they have better paint than takaras.

I've bought from the seller as well, had a good experience. It's the same seller that had those unreleased Movie Trilogy Black Soundwaves over the summer.

Megatron may be junkers for some but mark my word, the pluses far outweigh the flaws. Why?
The only "official" MP Megatron out there. Hegemon DOES not count.
Mine was never transformed so still intact, no breaks. Why crack your head in transforming him when you have the simple but complete (with extensions) G1 version to take his transform mode place?
Cosmic rust notwithstanding........I found a cure to it, when it first manifested, I applied Johnsons & Johnsons metal polish "GLO". The rust has never reappeared since.

I know many people dis him, but I love my MP Megatron! Yes, he can be a bit floppy in the transformation process. I actually just transformed him a few days ago for the fist time in over a year, and my goodness! But as long as he is cared for and not abused (which should be a no brainer for something that is more an adult collectable then it is a toy) he remains relatively solid in both modes once transformation is complete.
And as far as proper G1 Megatrons (which, to me, means ones with a gun-mode -- show me the episode in the original cartoon where he transformed into a tank or a jet, and I'll revise my views accordingly) he is the best looking one you can get.

If they made a new gun-mode G1 Megatron, that was a bit more solid? And came with the stock and barrel extensions? (The ones on mine in the photos above are third-party.) And might be more in line with the new Masterpiece scale? Sure, I'd be on board. But that won't stop me from loving my original Masterpiece Megatron.
And as for scale... Well, I was watching an early season one episode recently. (Don't recall which one exactly, but it was on disc one.) And there was a scene where Megatron was towering over Soundwave. So... looks like the scale isn't as off as people complain about!
Yeah... I know... There's probably just as many, if not more, examples of them being the same size... or even of Soundwave being taller! Scale was never a consistnt issue on the show, or in G1 toys (where Soundwave was bigger then Megatron) so as long as we don't have a case of Megatron being two feet tall, and Soundwave is only two inches tall, then I'm fine with it!
If you do buy the one you're looking at on eBay, good luck with the purchase, and I hope you enjoy the figure!

Really? I have a Takara MP Lambor direct from BBTS and the paint is perfect. I heard the horror stories but mine exhibits none of the paint issues that others have described. Perhaps I was just lucky?

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I am that which is, which was, and is yet to come.
And you will know my name is MEGATRON when I lay my vengeance upon you!

I wish there was a KO of MP Megatron, I love transforming him. I have to stop myself from doing it too often since I want to keep his paint and joints in a display worthy condition.
But I must have done that transformation at least 40 times since I got him back then.
A KO would allow me to display mine, while transforming the KO over and over.
