Finally bought the More Than Meets the Eye books

Postby Supreme Convoy » Mon Feb 15, 2010 10:30 pm

:BOT: Wow, apparently I'm super late in buying the More Than Meets the Eye guidebooks. When Dreamwave first published them, I told myself I'd get the paperbacks. Cut to now and the IDW editions are out of print, meaning they can go for some hefty prices. After visiting a few stores and online stores, I finally own copies of them.

I love looking through these books. I'm surprised how many Transformers characters I know (or is that sad? ) though there are several that I don't recognize. These tend to be mostly Micromasters but I find it fun to jump on the site and look through the galleries and then recognize the toy. :CON:

I liked the Armada series more [surprisingly, since I loathe the Armadaverse], the art was generally better and the profiles didn't tend to make every character seem like a hugely flawed dick like the G1 profiles did.

^I think one of the main problems with every other G1er seeming like that, and you're right, is that there were som many of them. Like, with Armada you had maybe twenty characters (I just don't recall, you know?) but with G1 there were so many characters. I'd be shocked if the MTMTE Armada books didn't have extra-super-generic profiles for the minicons, since they were hardly even shown in the frame let alone given any discernable charcaterisation. I read the comics, so I may have just forgotten when they had Minicon extrapolation day, but I remember it being pretty weak.

They are good reading.

I scoured and dug them up hunting thru Amazon for a good price.

I also really recommend the price guide for G! u can get dirt cheap. Has a reflective/hologram G1 Prime on the cover. Awesome info tool for figure hunting. ITs Transformers Identification and Price Guide.
Watching since episode 1 aired in 84
Reading since #4 released in 84
GM for life.
If it's not G1 it's not canon
