Do you think they should go back to simple walking cubes like G1, or more realistic movie verse designs in the future? I rather the realistic designs of Prime and the Movies and think it should be done more often

Advanced like Transformers Prime and the Film Series. G1 was cool awesome but they were too bricky. They were Brickformers.

Well, the Aligned continuity that encompasses WFC, Exodus, and Prime is planned to last for the next decade or so, so we'll be stuck with that look for a good while.

And so well deserved until they come out with flying cars (Well, as a common transportation).

I hate the look of the Bay-formers, but I think the Prime designs are a good way of taking that look and toning it down. I've come to the unwanted realization that they will most likely never go back to G1 designs. As long as it isn't as "junky" as it is in the movies, then I will try to, at least, tolerate any new look of future shows. Even though they still remain my favorite TF series, I am not a G1 or BW purists that blindly complains about anything that is new and different.

More classic block look but with a modern edge like in War for Cybertron; I love those designs. Less skinny-alien-Insect-look like Bayformers or like Starscream and Soundwave in TF Prime.
I hate the way they look in TF Prime with their skinny long tentacle-like fingers and toothpick legs.
WHo in their right mind thought that was a good idea?!!

I would like to see a new, unique style, actually. Not that I hate any existing style, far from it, it's just refreshing to see a totally new direction every so often.
Though if they keep somewhat close to the movie look, I hope they mix in some more of the quirky bot designs (i.e. Demolishor, the Doctor, Rampage, etc.).

I quite agree. While I did like most of the Bayformers (aside from Doritoscream and a large bit of Megatron) I don't quite like the looks of some of the characters in Prime. I don't like how Starscream looks, and once I saw him it made me stop watching.NiteStar wrote:More classic block look but with a modern edge like in War for Cybertron; I love those designs. If they make a new series, they have to get some of these guys right. Certain guys have a look that is iconic, and if they screw that up, then they become unrecognizable.
Megatron always is the leader, and is only one with the large cannon on his arm.
Starscream is always a flyer, with a handsome look and is a backstabbing traitor.
Soundwave is usually blue, has a mask and has a monotone synth voice.
And so on.
So if a new series came out, it should look like this:
It should be an incomplete throwback to G1. The bots should look like the G1 guys, but not look like a bunch of boxes. They could look real and detailed like they did in TF2007, but not have the insect look. And give the 'Cons the 'predatory' look like they had in Animated. I loved how the Seekers had the high narrow wings and (what might have been) claws on the end of their fingers. And Megatron looked like he could do some major damage.
The 'Bots should look like they are capable, but not look like they were obviously built for war either.
I don't think they would do this much for a children's show, but if they did something like this for the adults (like they did with GIJoe) then it could rock.

First: This is a false dichotomy. These are not the only two possible options, and anyone who accepts the premise that they are is an ignorant fool.
Second: I don't believe for a second that the Bayformer designs are any more realistic than those of any previous series, except, perhaps, the techno-organic Maximals from Beast Machines, or Savage/Noble from the same series.
Personally, I'd like to see a return to a more traditional style, by which I mean a style where it's obvious that one part of the alt-mode became a particular part of the robot mode, something that I find sorely lacking in the Bayformer style. I'd also like to see a design that doesn't look like it's exposing key internal systems to the elements and weapons fire. That said, I believe this can be achieved while still achieving a nice middle ground between your dishonest either/or options.

I think different design aesthetics are cool, but I hope the classic style makes a comeback on TV rather than just in the toy lines.

Exactly. Its like if they took a new Superman series or film and made him with a purple and green suit and blonde hair, or Batman with no pointy ears and in a yellow suit with no cape. They don't f*ck around with their iconic looks so they shouldn't f*ck around with iconic Transformer looks. What came first, came first and should stay.
And going back to the block look of Transformers dosen't mean they have to be straight G1 blocks. They can elaborate like you said and be more detailed and refined. Like in War for Cybertron, I think they did a great job with that. All the characters were obviously modeled after G1 but with more detail and added tech specs to them.
I still think they should make War for Cybertron into a series instead.

I remember ages ago when the Bay-verse movies were first coming out, that some people did artwork (as a protest against Bayverse's bug look) showing how the G1 'Cons and such could look if they were 'updated' to look 'real.' I thought they were really quite good looking, and they looked alien and robotic even though they had the G1 'look.' Some of these probably could be found on Deviantart (I don't know how to post links) but it shows that it at least can be done.
I haven't ben able to get WFC, is it good? Does it have a decent-sized singleplayer campaign, or is it more a of vestigal thing and the effort went to multiplayer instead?

i whole-heartedly agree, for the most part. Michael Bay sucks balls and i hate ALL of his movie not just Transformers.
i think TF: Prime is a great series, owing a lot of it's inspiration to G1 and a very muted Bay look. one of the many problems with the Bay crap is that is hard to see what the hell is going on because his TF's look like piles of scrap metal.
G1 will always be my favorite because that's what i grew up with and there were some very good stories in it. but i like what i see in TF: Prime and hope that they continue along these lines or even better.

What movies are you watching? Superman has always looked the same (old films with Christopher Reeves and other DC animated films of today). Batman has had several incarnations of live action films and cartoons and he always looks the same. The new Green Lantern film , Green Lantern looks like Green Lantern.
All superheros have looked the same since the 1930's or what not with only minor subtle differences.Transformers has never looked the same. Its always been one drastic change to another wether in model style or color schemes. Vehicle Model style I can understand cuz times change and so do vehicles but their robot form and color schemes should stay consistent just like superheros stay consistent.

I would love to see another series done in G1 style. I am not a bayformers fan and I am not a big fan of TF Prime designs either. But I do like the hybrid style of the current ongoing series. I agree with the other poster about how they shouldn't be so drastically changing the look of the transformers. Its like I am playing a guessing game of who is who every series that comes out. They should do a series based of the dreamwave or IDW stories.

Just so long as they don't look like Animated. I don't really like the bayformer look, but Animated was even worse for me, and a total deal breaker.
