I saw Ironhide on the road this morning
Driving to work westbound on I-696 in Detroit, I saw Ironhide being transported on a big flatbed trailer. This was heading away from the city, and he veered onto I-96 which heads to Lansing. The vehicle appeared to be the movie vehicle, because the "custom Topkick that looks like Ironhide" we've seen has completely different mirrors.
Anybody else know anything about this? Maybe GM is/was having some sort of DVD release promotion.

I dunno about any promos, but I'll ask my friend to ask her friend's brother (who has special permission to drive Ironhide on occassion) if he knows anything.

What are the odds! I thought this was going to be just a normal GMC topkick, but it definitely appears to be the custom job they did for the movie. Wicket stuff.

Well, sorry but it was me, gunning off the TF2 set to get an official prop. Didn't think I'd get noticed.
Awesome find, cool to see it. Maybe, as I said, it was going or coming from somewhere like a secret set or somethin'.
Wishful thinking.

Well now I'm curious... I live in Lansing, but haven't heard about any kind of events or anything in the area. What the heck are they doing with him?!

Nice find. I wish I could have been there to chase him in my STANG.

I do remember hearing about GMC making working replicas of Ironhide for public sale about 2 months ago. That's most likely what you saw.

That was my first thought too.
But I am unsure whether their replicas had the Autobot logo on the tray door, or such long smokestacks.
Then again I have never seen a normal one of these vehicles (not based in the USA) so I don't know.
Still a cool thing to pass!
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

This is the conversation my friend Sierra and I had earlier about this thread:
I saw this *link to this thread removed* posted on a forum this morning and thought this was pretty neat

I'm not sure I will have to email him and ask him! He does travel to Lansing alot his girlfriend lives there maybe he had to take the truck back down that way. Now remember what I told you he said though. Patrick told me that they custom make Ironhide for people to buy. So far 17 of them have been made and bought. But I will ask him. I know he is headed for Chicago this week. Its the big Rem there so everyone who is anyone is going to this huge Tourney and maybe he is hauling the truck there for a special gig. I will ask though and try to find out. ~Sierra
I'll keep you all posted if she finds out anything

SOmeone probably bought the custom topkick and it was being delivered to his house since the truck can melt a iceberg per gallon. Orrr...Oh nohs, Ironhide has been hijacked by the go-bot fans o oo oo maybe it was those nerds from that one my circle phone commercial.

You must have the willpower of a saint not to have tailgated and followed that truck for miles.
Or you had to go to work and wanted to keep your job.

You'd probably have to downshift just to keep behind it. Not much of a chase. although not much else is.
Now get a GT500....

GMC did make working Ironhide trucks that went on sale. It was front paged here a while back. I remember reading the review. First they are increadibly expensive. They also DID say that the Ironhide truck had the Autobot symbol on the back but didn't provide a picture.
