Yes.
Let's see if DC can pull it off.
If not, there's always going to be War of Kings to re-read.

I am.
So far the Green Lantern Sagas have prooven to be very entertaining reads. I expect no less from this one.
Edit: After reading the 1st issue, I think Guy's comment sums it up (in an awesome sort of way)

I have to say I like the start of Blackest Night. I just read rebirth and loved it as well.

Re: Blackest Night
Does this thread need spoiler blockage? And, if so, how might I employ such (I'm fairly new to this particular board)?
The only thing I'll comment on at the moment, that I feel is pretty safe, since it's of such little importance to the issue, is this:
I'm so glad to see Professor Stein is still about. I've been left wondering if he's alive or dead after the mess that was "Countdown."

Well, there hasn't been any yet, but I put the tag on just in case
As for actual spoiler tags? I don't think this board has em.
Just use white coloured text.

I've read everything up to this point, so I am looking forward to it finally getting steam as 'Blackest Night'.
I have to say, the Black Lanterns being dead folks/heroes is such an interesting twist on the whole zombie thing... would Solomon Grundy have to die again to be a Black Lantern?
Does anybody talk about Flash anywhere on here? I have gotten into the newest series of that, although I have always seen reviews that they have been spectacular stories in recent years.
I find it interesting that as a kid, I liked Marvels Super Heroes, but as an adult I like DC's. Theories?

I picked up Blackest Hight Tale of the Lantern Corps #1, and was rather dissapointed. It didnt add anything the story so far other then showing off the Indigo Tribe.

Re: Blackest Night (most likely spoilers appearing sometime)

Here's what I find so fascinating about #1 (be warned, spoilers ahoy!)
Prior to Identity Crisis, I had no idea who Ralph and Sue were. After reading that and 52, those books really made me care about those characters. The ending of 52 made me hopeful.
Then Blackest Night #1 hits and those characters that I've grown to love kick me in the face. I'm literally afraid to see what happens to these two.
Also, at the end of 52 Ralph and Sue were ghosts... would their Black Lantern selves be just the bodies?

The way I see it, resurrected Black Lanterns are just bodies with memories of the people.
Think of them more as "Buffy" vampires. They have all the memories of the person when they were alive, but are corrupted by a "demon", which in this case would be the Black Ring.

I think the creepiest thing that hit me the second time reading Blackest Night 1 and the recent Green Lantern is that Black Hand is using Bruce Wayne's head to get the information on all the superheroes.
My personal theory to all this is that it will permanetly kill off those superheroes who no longer have any interest to DC, and in the end will revive all the ones that they do like.

Thing i'm interested in is what Martian Manhunter's role will be in all of this.
He only recently died in Final Crisis, looking back i'm not sure I see the point in his death other than for the shock value even though it came out soon after that he'd be one of the first Black Lanterns.
I guess I just don't have much faith in DC.

NOw why would that be?

So I enjoy a few DC titles, GL, GLC, Flash, and sometimes, JLA, Teen Titans, or JSA. I was even enjoying Solomon Grundy, but sometimes when I go, I just can't justify buying issues that get read and then put in a box... Other than that I have stayed away, minus the occasional Hawkman or Batman (when Ras Al Ghul is involved).
I think the Justice League Unlimited cartoon, really got me interested in looking at DC comics. That and I used to watch Superfriends, Challenge of the Superfriends, Superman, Aquaman (and Aqualad

I've been following it since the sinestro corps appeared, I gotta say I like the idea. But I'm worried they're going to lapse into a cliche and a half: Hal turning into a white lantern and beating the Black lanterns back on his own and once it's over all the other corps disappear.

I picked up Green Lantern 44 and I liked it, I also picked up Tale of the Lantern Corps 2 and still do not see how it fits. It seems like it should be a prolouge if anything. Ill pick up 3 next week.

Re: Blackest Night (most likely spoilers appearing sometime)
I picked up the last is issue of Tale of the Corps and I am disappointed. Instead of having 3 stories like the previous 3 it only had 2. I am glad this little "mini series" is over.
I also picked up a couple of back issues of Blackest Night Prologue. Teen Titan 15 was good. I am starting to like Garth as a character. I also picked up Green Lantern Corps 39 and really liked it, wish I had read it before I started Blackest Night.

Re: Blackest Night (most likely spoilers appearing sometime)
Complicating matters is the fact that Ralph and Sue's spirits were seen as active in just the past few months (i.e., well after 52 ended), and if no one at least thinks to actively answer this question in the pages of Blackest Night itself, I'll be rather disappointed.Burn wrote:Supreme Convoy wrote:Also, at the end of 52 Ralph and Sue were ghosts... would their Black Lantern selves be just the bodies?

I'm really enjoying Geoff Johns's run on Green Lantern.

Claiming Fox News has real journalists is like claiming Twilight has real vampires, it's just illogical.

Well, congratulations DC, you managed to spark an emotional response from me whilst reading a comic ... and that response, was fear.
Within reading the first few pages of Blackest Night #2 i'm sitting here actually a little bit scared and worried for what's going to happen.

I think the fear in me hit a new level around the time that The Spirit of Vengeance got converted.

Yep, I'm definitely reading this one. This has brought me back to the DC universe. I haven't been this psyched for a comic event in a long time. I hope it doesn't disappoint!
The buildup was so good though that it makes me wonder how they're going to top it.

Got two weeks worth of comics to get caught up. Ok I am scared as well especially after reading last weeks issue of Green Lantern Corps their rings couldnt stop the black ones and the black lanterns appear unstopable. This is super hero horror movie done right so far.

Blackest Night Superman was one hell of a read.
The Black Lanterns are terrifying! Kal-L trying to reach in and rip Connor's heart out had me sitting there thinking "If they can rip the heart out of a Superman then there's no stopping them!"
I truly hope they end this well and we, the readers, and the DC universe, is left reeling and there will be consequences from it. (Unlike Final Crisis which was nothing more than a over-hyped mini-series that only served to wrap up Batman:RIP)
