On a related note, I've created a new thread for discussing BotCon/TCC fiction, old and new, if anyone's interested if discussing things like the recent developments in Tornado's Facebook log, or next year's magazine story "Another Light", or any of the older stuff.

OK. I misunderstood. No redux for me, I'd rather have new characters with Armada molds. Armada molds were very good. Unfortunately, they're probably too old now to be reused.Sabrblade wrote:A redux with new toys of older characters is my post was talking about.Rodimus Prime wrote:And...?Sabrblade wrote:Then it's not a redux. Considering that the Club has never ever used an Armada mold before (which isn't surprising since very few of them have any decent amount of articulation), I don't see them using them anytime soon.Rodimus Prime wrote:OK. I know. That makes me kinda sad. Toy-wise, Armada is in my top 3, due to the colors and molds used. I'm not sure how well they did for Hasbro on the toy shelves, but I suspect that's 1 reason they didn't think the molds would be viable. Like you said, not much articulation, so they wouldn't be much fun for kids. But I like bricks, having grown up on G1, and I like Armada toys.Sabrblade wrote:Considering that the Club has never ever used an Armada mold before (which isn't surprising since very few of them have any decent amount of articulation), I don't see them using them anytime soon.Rodimus Prime wrote:OK. As far as anniversaries go, next year is the...
- 30th anniversary of the second year of G1 (not much to celebrate there)
- 25th anniversary of Zone and Action Masters (I don't see either being full box set material)
- 20th anniversary of the final year of G2 (already celebrated G2 in 2010)
- 15th anniversary of Beast Machines and Car Robots (the latter's possible)
- 10th anniversary of Cybertron (also possible)

Silverbolt's dead, unfortunately. And if he got a toy, it'd probably be based on the Beast Machines version.megatronus wrote:What do folks think a Beast Wars Uprising Set would look like? However, there's plenty of existent Uprising dudes who could get toys: Rattrap, Botanica, Dynobot, Torca, Geckobot, Jawbreaker, Cryotek, Windrazor, and Packrat (and Nitrostreak, but I can't see his toy being that exciting).

Though, I'd more expect an Uprising theme to come in 2016 for the 20th anniversary of Beast Wars.

The Tweets told which us themes it wouldn't be (meaning none of the ones that have been done before), so since they've yet to do a RiD-themed or UT-themed BotCon, both are possible, yes.Rodimus Prime wrote:Sabrblade wrote:

Yeah, in eBay auctions. But it hasn't been released, though.Rodimus Prime wrote:Wasn't there a prototype of that shown before? The Grimlock body with the Megatron face? I'm certain I've seen it.megatronus wrote:BW Megatron from FOC Grimlock...
On a related note, another issue with doing Silverbold from Grimwing/Darksteel, as well as doing Megatron from Grimlock, is that one of the points of Uprising is that it's a "non-beast" version of the Beast Era (rather than "pre-beast" version like Dawn of Future's Past was). These are versions of the characters who neither have nor will get beast modes (save for Blackarachnia and Nightscream, who went to Axiom Nexus in the TransTech world and got theirs there) since there's no one going to Earth to take part in any Beast Wars this time around. So making Silverbolt into an ursagryph or Megatron into another T-Rex would go against that.

Not exactly a fair analysis since the Blurr and Hoist molds were physically retooled for their Cybertron and subsequent Botcon releases.
Also, "the Club" used Armada Jetfire for Astrotrain.

I stand corrected. Fun Pub's used four Armada molds (five if you count SG Sideswipe's Mini-Con separately), two of which were the remolded Cybertron versions.
Still though, considering how few they've used in all these years, I can't see them returning to much more of those molds anytime soon.
