None of the toys back then had those distinctions. The Basic/Deluxe/etc designations didn't start until Beast Wars if I remember correctly.

Like GM sid, there were no such size classes back then but if there were he would not have been a supreme. He would be in a class of his own since there have never been any releases of comparable size.

That's not completely accurate. There have been 2 more releases that are in the same class as G1 Fortress Maximus. Grand Maximus in 1988 in Japan. and R.I.D. Fortress Maximus in 2000 also a Japan only release.

Granted both are recolors of G1 Fortress, but R.I.D. should have had a Class designation, beyond Supreme. What that was I don't know.

In any case all 3 of them are in a Class by themselves.
