After getting tired of Kre-o Transformers coming apart in storage, I decided to fix the problem so that everything would stay together while in storage between photo shoots.
Super glue.
I've thought about it for a while, but didn't think it was a good idea because of obvious reasons. But while working on the galleries for the new Kreon Micro-Changers, I got really tired of pieces coming off, having to refer back to the instructions to make sure pieces are correct, etc. So I super glued pieces that didn't need to move together. Problem solved. I own two sets of every Kre-o figure I've bought so far so I've got one in robot mode and one in vehicle mode. Now that I've started super gluing the sets together, I won't have to worry about them coming apart between photo shoots.
I also figure that in ten years, when PDF files are hard to find for Kre-Os and when my instructions are long lost, that I'll appreciate my super glue solution to avoid frustrations of figuring out what goes together.
I've only done this on the Micro-Changers so far, haven't done this yet with the full sets but will once I start working on galleries for the full size sets again later this year.
Has anyone else done this or is this crazy?

Not really.
What if you need to do a super-mega-combination?

For what it's worth, I recently found my old BTR Armada Optimus and Jetfire and instantly found PDF files for both. So, if that's any indication, you might not have as much trouble as you think finding PDF files online ten years down the road.

I would have done the superglue trick to make the pieces stay together better without fixing them permanently.

I haven't done this with my sets, but I also don't have two of each (displayed as one robot, one alt mode) as I believe you do. Of course, my sets are also on display full time (for now). I think I would attempt to break them down into components (but not all the way) were I to need storing them. Maybe you should look at some Lego collectors sites to see if they have to do anything special when storing.
I would be against super-gluing the pieces together, but that's just my preference. Maybe in case I want to change how one of them looks, variations from the official instructions.
Also, why don't you just d/l the Kre-O instructions (in PDF) now while they are available? Looks like they are available off the Hasbro product page for each figure.
Good luck in your decisions.

That's a nice idea for those who can afford to buy two of everything and don't plan to do anything other than display them in one state.
