Just curious: do a lot of you live with your parents? Or is it that your parents know about your hobby?
I got back into toys long after I moved out from home, so I'm not even sure if my folks know that I collect. My partner is really supportive; she's even gone out and bought me a few whenever I've been too busy with work, and has even surprised me with stuff I hadn't gotten around to buying, bless her soul!
Its good to see that peeps here have supportive partners; seems like the stigma about collecting is really diminishing.

Well it's unfortunate, but many of the flat shelf type spaces in our house contain Transformers, or toys in general. I try to keep it in check, but it does get a little wild at times.
My wife accepts it fine. No worries. As long as I keep the spending in check.

My boyfriend is cool about it. He likes them too, just not as crazy as I am. I'm like if you don't like me for who I am then get out of my life. My parents don't mind at all, cause they except me. It's cool to have a relationship with someone who is also a geek. That's why me and my boyfriend get along so well. He doesn't mind that I'm all about Transformers, he knew what he was getting when he 1st met me in person.
I also live with a roommate who is also a Transfan. So it's all cool.

Long live the Decepticons!! I love G1 Starscream!!
Don't tell Starscream, but I'm in love with movieverse Ironhide!
Current TF count: 255 (and growing)

My parents are split. My Dad doesn't mind the toys, in fact he likes playing with them. My mom complains every time I but one. Although she doesn't see a problem when she buys them for me.

My wife is a collector as well, so she's definately cool with it. She and I will go and look for toys together, it's cool to have enjoy the hobby as much as I do.
My brother also collects. He and I geek out over new TFs all the time.
My mom is cool with it, she got me and my bro started in the 80s with it. She'll give me and my bro crap for how much we spend, but then turn around and get us a bunch of ones we're looking for when we can't find them.
My dad hated it when I was in high school. To him collecting "dolls" was stupid. Don't know about now, I don't talk to him.
All of my friends collect toys to one extent or another, so I really don't have anyone around me who isn't excepting of it.

That's alright homey, the gf or partner/ wife are the only ladies you really need on board. I've had gfs in the past that just weren't down, and man was that ever a pain in the derrier!
And as you said earlier, yes, "All hail Spartan Women!"

I tend to catch flak from the parents about my collection, my dad would just laugh at me and think i am crazy; and my mom just shakes her head and smiles
My friends know that i like them but obviously don't appreciate them as much as me, and my little brothers don't really care one way or the other about them. My collection is 210+ big, all MIB and MISB, with like another 50 or so displayed on shelves in my room.
But yeah, after continuing with the hobby since 2003, i've been gaining some respect around here for it; my friends sometimes call when they pass by tf aisles and ask me what i'm looking for, and my dad stopped giving me flak about it after i found a g1 jetfire MIB at goodwill for $7.00, complete with box, styrofoam tray, all of the armor/gun/gunclip/techspec decoder/minicatalog, figure in good condition with no yellowing and etc. The only problems with it are just with the box, those being some box wear, the plastic window is cracked/open, and the flap is creased. So one day he came into my room and started the usual flakfest, and i pointed jetfire out on my shelf, then showed him what to him appeared to be the exact same thing; an AFA graded 85 one on ebay, buy-it-now for like $4,500 and that pretty much wiped his smirk off his face.
Now he thinks it's a good idea getting tf's, in the long run anyway.

i found it over at the one on mesa drive and university, but i had some help from my friend who worked there as a manager. He saw it and thought i'd like it but really had no idea how much it was worth, and just told me that he had something i thought i'd like.. he couldn't buy it for me (store policy), but held it until i arrived. You should have seen my face when i saw what it actually was though. Or in other words, have friends that work at thrift stores so they can tip you off
