So the question of opening them or not ... FFS man that's a tough one.
I'm a big advocate of setting things free (just ignore the boxed Binaltechs I have. They were released at one stage!) so let them be free!
BUT ... that's a near complete set, you're just missing a Blast Off. Do you want to go through the time and effort and in the end, the money, to find a Blast Off to complete your MOSC G2 Combaticons? I mean really, THAT would be a damn good feather in your collecting cap.
Or do you take the easy way out, bust them open and track down a complete Blast Off?
That may not be easy either as finding him with both wings and weapons can be difficult.
I opt for busting them out and biding your time to find a Blast Off.

I'll say right off the bat, I'm leaning towards leaving them MOSC. Maybe displayed with CWG2icus.
But that doesn't settle the struggle.
I want all my toys to be new, right out of the box, only handled by me. When it comes to my G1 collection, anything that's been reissued is what'll be on my shelf. And I thought, no matter how much it cost, that I'd buy the rest of the non-reissued figures still originally sealed and tear them open. Crazy right?
These recent G2's (I have a Sideswipe and Bee along with these Combycons) are the first "old" sealed figures I've ever bought. They're not incredibly rare or expensive, but they are just enough to stress me out. So I should either ditch this idea of "MOSC and open" entirely or leave them sealed.
In this specific case I think I'll just buy a second G2 Bruti to have loose. The Heartbreaker is Onslaught. I've been watching, and even loose that bugger is rare. So opening mine feels like it'd be criminal.

I don't really know what to tell you Shaj. I consider it a crime if the figure is not brought out the case and messed with, especially one designed to change forms like Transformers are. But at the same time, something very rare should be cherished... I really don't have a clue

Crazy? No. We all have our different collecting habits. I couldn't even comprehend trying to do that though. In fact I'm probably the opposite. While I do have a number of reissues in my G1 collection, I prefer the original releases for the simple fact, I had to search that little bit harder and be patient a little bit longer to get it.

I'll go one better.
I have all the G2 Combaticons, admittedly Blast Off is more a rocket than a shuttle (no wings) but the hard part for me is I don't have the gestalt (can I still call them gestalt as it's G2 not CW

I still vote for busting them open. Free the plastic!

I'm the same way Shaj. In fact, the only LOOSE figure I've ever purchased that wasn't new in package/on card was the Generations Drift I bought from Ironhidensh!!Burn wrote:Crazy? Gotta agree with Burn, carefully cut them out of the bubble on the back side and then you can put them back with the cards facing forward!!Burn wrote:I still vote for busting them open. Free the plastic!

I used to be a new figure only guy, but I broke that bad habit. If they are in good shape or the right price then I'm on board.
I understand the struggle of not opening them especially if they are worth a pretty penny sealed, but the real questions are: How would you enjoy them the most? Will you ever sell them?
I'd never say I'm a hardcore collector and my unicorns are pretty lamesauce, but I'd open them the second I got my grubby mitts on them.
But ultimately you gots to do what right for you. Take your time, enjoy the MOSC crispiness of them. Even if you wait a year, they will still be minty fresh when you pop that cherry

It's a hard call to make Jak. I'm not even sure what I would do.
I've never bought anything as an "investment", but it seems like these guys could be that. They could be that little bank roll that you save for an emergency.
But, if they're not worth that much, and won't appreciate much over time...
Open the **** out of them!

Huh. Interesting. Believe me, I LOVE the hunt. I'll buy anything I can off a shelf over online shopping if I can, but that pretty much only leaves brand new domestic figures.Burn wrote:While I do have a number of reissues in my G1 collection, I prefer the original releases for the simple fact, I had to search that little bit harder and be patient a little bit longer to get it.
And one thing though, I'm not anti-used figures. I buy used stuff all the time off eBay and such. The difference is that they're mostly newer figures, and owned by collectors. These figures generally speaking are well taken care of before I get them so there's little worry. But when you start looking at vintage G1's, lord only knows what those figures have been through and pictures can only show you so much. I just don't think I can buy something like that without it feeling like a gamble.
Can't do it. Because while looking sealed, I'll always know they aren'titscramtastic wrote:Gotta agree with Burn, carefully cut them out of the bubble on the back side and then you can put them back with the cards facing forward!!

Now THAT, is the golden question. I can almost garauntee I'd enjoy them more opened. But they're so nice. S'why I'm thinking about buying a second loose set, and not buying anymore MOSC's.carytheone wrote:How would you enjoy them the most?
I never buy anything with the intent of selling it. But that's not to say I could never part with my things. I fell out of love with my comics, and honestly I'd sell 80% of them right now if it was easy and the price was even slightly decent.carytheone wrote:Will you ever sell them?
The idea of it being an "investment" doesn't even enter into it. And with the comics, I got enough stuff I can hock if I need toCobotron wrote:I've never bought anything as an "investment", but it seems like these guys could be that. Quite a bit actually! It's really odd. He feels kinda plain, but premium. It's hard to describe. The first MP14 is more colorful, but 14+ just FEELS nicer.joeprime276 wrote:Hey Shajaki, how are you enjoying that MP+ Alert? I still can't decide between the original and that one. BB two one, my thoughts on MP36 from it's respective thread

shajaki wrote:I stayed out of this when it was all speculation, but now I'ma weigh in. His torso looks like its formed by 6 BILLION moving parts. That's terifying. His legs look hella clean. His emblem looks like it's tampo'd and not a sticker! But it also looks like its the "toon" version... not sure how I feel about that. And because of the jacked up movie death pieces, I might have to buy two of these buggers.
shajaki wrote:It might surprise you to hear this, but I'm right there with you Cobs. I've always loved the extra bits of red on the arms and legs. And I honestly didn't notice the flat grey until it was mentioned. I would gladly welcome a MP36XCobotron wrote:I'd really prefer a more toy accurate version with more red. Like on the inside of his arms and calves. The contrast of the silver and the red is such a defining look for Megatron for me.
Also not feeling it at all. I was annoyed with Shockwave having no tampo's, but at least we were given the option. If that toon insignia is in fact tampo'd on, that'd be a shame.Cobotron wrote:And ya, the cartoon insignias are not doing it for me.![]()

me too.
the cartoon isignias are spaced out more while the regular ones have the silver backrounds and are spaced in more.
just take one of your decepticon mps and compare the symbols if i didnt help much.

that omega isnt really mp scale. i compared mp prime to metro leg and prime is about the same size as it.
