But a lot of the Titaniums, while geared towards collectors, come off looking like kids' toys. They have weird proportions and cartoon-like faces. I understand that they're based on cartoons, but even the main line toys don't look that childish, after Armada of course.

On some figs, I agree, Soundwave being the most relevant example. But Rodimus is great, and while I don't own one, the G1 Ultra Magnus looks fantastic. I think given time the Galoob division will be able to turn out a much higher quality product than the initial couple of waves. Besides, if Titaniums don't pick up the slack, I don't think we'll see any dedicated return to classic characters any time soon.

Smokescreen from the Cybertron line, along with Botcon Ironhide and Ratchet, Arcee, Downshift, Scorponok, Alpha Quintesson etc from Energon all work really well with the Classics line. I saw a pretty nice kitbash of silverstreak and prowl from Cyb. Smokescreen somewhere.
Good ideas man!
I've been flirting with repainting Starscream into Thundercracker, but I hadn't considered the other possibilities.
I think everyone here is making good points. In my kneck o' the woods the Classics sell very well, even Mirage who just seems to get shipped en masse. A lot of the movie toys at my local TRU have already gone clearance, so I'm curious to see what happpens after the film. I didn't know that the Bot-Con set was such a huge hit at such a high price tho.
Given this I'd now say it'd be silly if Hasbro let this one slide. Also, as fans we can also simply demand the line's return.

Till then it's online trading and garage sales.
You and me both, man.
I can just concentrate on future MP releases, along with G1.
There is always somewhere to spend my cash.

Hasbro knows that G1 is thier ace in the hole. This isn't the last we have seen of it. I think they intend to bring back some G1 related line in the future. Obviously they have done the knew robot heroes G1 style...
I just think they are trying not to shoot the whole G1 load at once. We do have the anniversary of transformers coming up and u can bet that hasbro will have somthing similiar to the retro gi joes in mind for the transformers when the time comes..
Besides everything I have seen of the new show looks like crap, and wouldn't translate very well to toys at all, especially toys that would look good with the other Tformer lines.

I remember back during Beast Wars and Beast Machines there were just those lines. It wasn't until the Unicron Trilogy that we started getting all of these sub lines. Universe has already kicked the can, Alternators certainly didn't seem to be doing too well before the "hiatus", Titaniums seem to be doing alright but that's a fairly small line.
Hopefully the movie will make the property even more viable but there's a good chance with all of the movie merchandising/advertising/tie-ins there's going to be major TF oversaturation. Come this fall the average consumer might be Transformered out, that might be a good time for Hasbro to go back to concentrating on one line.
Great point. I wish Classics was coming back (who doesn't?) but I think the Titanium 6" line will turn into "Classics 2". We already know there's supposed to be a new Cosmos, an Arcee, and a Shockwave for the line. And it makes sense, since the collector/older fan market is smaller, and they can afford to press fewer and sell at higher prices to meet our demands.
Now all they have to do is start shipping Titaniums to stores on a regular basis.
Thank you!
We can only hope.
