I just got him and find the purple to be perfect. I think the problem is not that it is light, it's not, but more that it looks faded a bit. Under the lighting I was playing wth, it looked dead on like this:

It's that phenomena again when you take an image and post on the PC, depending on your PC resolution etc, the image would look waaaaaaaaay off than the real thing. Remember Sandstorm? The recent Springer release etc etc
So in relation to other arguments for figures from TT or Hb being off color should not be taken too seriously at face value until we have them on hand.

I think the Robot Heroes one has the nicest shade of purple in terms of cartoon-accuracy.itscramtastic wrote:Apparently I forgot to post this here..

That one is quite nice. Let's see if I can complete my Shockwave's over the next few months and post a group photo. I forgot the "Bot Shots" Super-Bot Shockwave for that photoSabrblade wrote:I think the Robot Heroes one has the nicest shade of purple in terms of cartoon-accuracy.itscramtastic wrote:Apparently I forgot to post this here..

He's a great figure. I had them all transformed for a combined mode super shot and I forgot how much fun Alternators/Binaltech figures were. I reminded myself of that a few months ago with Rodimus, but still, awesome stuff.Ravage XK wrote:Love Binaltech Shockwave, gonna have to dig mine out of storage.itscramtastic wrote:Apparently I forgot to post this here..

Re: Takara Tomy Masterpiece Shockwave Discussion Thread
I got my Shockwave today!
1. His left ankle tilt is so stiff that it's actually nonexistent. [Edit: loosened the screw, it's fine now!]
2. I think I don't mind the light-piping for this MP because his face was basically a flashing light-bulb. But hopefully they will stick with painted eyes.
3. The mold is spot on, but not sure how I feel about the shade of purple yet... and the lack of tampos really bugs me.
I don't want to apply the stickers and I don't want to leave him faction-less like a 3P figure either. It was a dumb move from Takara. They should have tampographed the real symbols and included the Sunbow stickers in case anyone wanted to apply them over. (Like Hasbro's CW Megatron.)
Maybe there's a place that can engrave or print the symbols privately. But just in case, where can I get quality Decepticon stickers, with white borders? The kind that sticks well but doesn't leave gross residue if you take them off? (if there is such a thing..)
More later...

Reprolabels have some raised faction stickers, could these help you?

The raised stickers have a silver backing, but there are flat ones with a white border available. But yeah, Reprolables would be the place to go for good quality stickers.

A dab of denatured alcohol on a soft cloth will remove sticker residue with out damaging plastic.

Re: Takara Tomy Masterpiece Shockwave Discussion Thread
Some more thoughts...
1. The light-piping is really well done. It's not one of those where you have to hold a flashlight right behind the figure's head. It lights up easily and even looks electronic.
2. Speaking of which, it took me a little while to realise that the trigger, not the switch, activates the gun light.
3. The back and small boots make him a little harder to pose. But not impossible --
5. Transformation is really easy, probably the easiest MP. I even wondered if they did a better job with the instructions before I had checked Ironhide's again to see if anything's different. Shockwave is the first MP (at least in while) that I transformed several times on the first day. Remembered pretty much all the steps.
It helps that his transformation is basically him bowing down and stretching his hands forward.
6. I wish MP-29 could stand on his own in gun mode, or at least had a cooler stand like Tracks. The optional backpack functioning as a stand is kind of dorky.
7. My copy is missing a piece. :/

So i'm going to go ahead and jump into a lion's den; as a figure (legitimacy aside) which is better: Quake Wave or MP Laserwave?

My money is MP Lazerwave. The transformation is fluid and both innovative (the legs) and nostalgic (the arms). The legs are the deal breaker since hey are just perfect on MP Lazerwave and help to contrast with his bulkier top. He also looks dead on like the show model.
Which piece is missing?

It's never fun to have to deal with returns/exchanges. Especially international, but for the price you paid for a "Masterpiece", you deserve the whole figure.

I'd recommend asking for a whole new figure. In looking at mine, I cannot imagine how to disassemble it to get at that sheathing. In fact, mine looks like one piece from the shoulder part...
