The Dinobots were introduced in the 8th episode. The only new Transformer introduced before the Dinobots was Skyfire a whole episode earlier. Unless you think early G1 was just More Than Meets The Eye meaning the only animalformers you can like are Ravage and Laserbeak, they totally count.

They're the Dinobots the same way that the PCC Combaticons are the Combaticons: just barely. Onslaught is called Bombshock despite obviously being Onslaught. It even has a beige armored car with a purple windshield so it has a Swindle leg. It's totally almost kinda the Combaticons, not quite.

Several problems have arisen with the Dinobots and they all stem from one problem: scientific advancement in the field of paleontology. T-Rex no longer walked upright, stegosaurus plates weren't straight up, brontosaurus and triceratops never existed, even BW Dinobot should have been covered in feathers! Curse science for ruining our toys! They went with new dinosaurs because the old ones, while classic and still what we picture in our minds when we think of "dinosaurs," are all wrong.

Ultimately, if you don't like it, don't buy it!

Ok the Bronto I know because it was mostly a bunch of fossils shoehorned together, but since when does a Triceratops NOT exist?

Also, on the subject, baby T-Rex's may have had feathers! Obviously they molted as they grew, but it's still a nifty idea.

Actually:

- Stegosaurus' plates were upright, just at an angle. The previous notion was that they were flat on the back like tiles of a roof, hence the name "roof-lizard"
- Triceratops as a genus did exist. It's Torosaurus that's possibly non-existent, but merely a matured form of Triceratops. The research is recent, in 2010.

And for completeness, Dimetrodon is no Dinosaur, but a Pelycosaur ;)

I still like my old school dinosaurs. lol I think they should remain as they are/were whatever, the Dinobots I mean...
Does being an aircraft mechanic make me better at Transforming these things? Sadly, no.

Dimetrodon is technically closer to mammals than reptiles, but he still looks cool.

Granted it has been a very long time since I've even handles a G1 Grimlock, but the Dinobots we not a combiner group. I have the first 1.5 seasons on DVD, need get the rest. The only early G1 combiner was Devastator.

As for T-Rex not walking up right, those fore-limbs weren't of much use save ritualistic combat with other rexes. He more than probably walked with his back parallel to the ground. Bronto's may not have, but there were other super-sized herbivores.
Grails:
Bots: G1 Bumblebee; Balance of Aerialbots(I have Air Raid)
parts: Overload's arms. Wanted badly
