Re: I-Gear PP03e - Elegy
The drop tanks look like the smaller (1500 liter) ones used on the Panavia Tornado. Dunno why somebody would mount those on his arms, but it's cool that he seems to have two attachment points on each wing.
There is *some* original engineering going on here. Not only the new wings, but the cone head must work differently than the original (yes, I used the word) MP mold, because on that version the nose of the jet isn't attached to the robot head at all. Probably that's a "dummy" nosecone on his head, but it'll still take some changes to tuck it away in jet mode.

You mean the design stolen from the custom job?
HasTak should beat them to the punch and announce the conehead seekers about two weeks before these hit, and at a cheaper price point than these modified KOs...

No, last December i-Gear released a pic of an upcoming product which was a silhouette of Predaking.

On the photo Elegy is in the same size as Mini Prime. But mini Prime is in the same size as MP Starscream. Or not?
You are correct on the size, I think this will be full sized Masterpiece. There is nothing on the iGear website that suggests this is a Mini Masterpiece. Take a look at this picture. In both pics it is the Mini Prime.
I guess I really should have looked at the picture a little better I guess I mainly read the title anyway I've changed my mind I like it but I don't think I want to spend $90 again actually they'll probably try and charge more because of it being a full size masterpiece figure.

Yup just like with their mini Prime, the head and hands are also downsized from a short run custom set by I think a Chinese kitbasher.

Re: I-Gear PP03e - Elegy
With the Transformers fever ready to surge this summer, it's the most opportune time for third party companies to jump into the fray. None have been more controversial than third party i-Gear, who among other things, have been making mini-sized replicas of Hasbro and Takara's Masterpiece Optimus Prime. Now iGear has decided to take advantage of the demand for a Thrust figure. The figure is called PP03E Elegy, a version of Masterpiece Starscream with Dirge aesthetics. Check Elegy out below!

I just realised something, this isn't just Dirge, this is a set of 3! And they do state that these are based on kitbashes by wheelhjack!

The sad thing is I really like the way this thing looks, but hate i-Gear and the MP Seeker mold.
I love tfw's tag for their article "armchair lawyers"

That Gold Optimus Prime (PP01) on i-gears web site looks fantastic. I have wanted a 'Golden Lagoon' Prime ever since I first saw the episode as a kid.

I hope the quality sucks for these, because if not, I'll have a very hard time resisting them. The Faith Leader figure was far from perfect, but still looks great with the Classics line. Having a full set of MP seekers with KO coneheads would be pretty badass, especially with Ghost SS too.

Re: I-Gear PP03e - Elegy
Waitaminute, I think those of you decrying iGear as "not having an original mold in their body" are forgetting a few items. Namely the show-accurate Autoscout (yes, the Gear of War Autoscout is a better toy, but at the cost of not looking as much like the one in 'A Prime Problem'), whichever Classics OP trailer they did, and that Teletran 1 HQ set (whose quality I have yet to see first-hand). They had been trying to fill some long overdue niches in my collection before they started announcing all of these actual knock-offs of Has/Tak toys, but that's exactly why I'm just as mad at them for these latest mini-masterpieces, because if they provoke legal action, it'll stop the flow of some other original stuff I'm REALLY looking forward to, like Con HQ, and especially those show-accurate Shark Sentries. It's bad enough that Impossible Toys had to quit the Quints before tackling obscure designs from "Forever Is A Long Time Coming" and "Dweller In The Depths", but the Quints I do have had better get some minions to do their legwork besides the Sharkti-Bot-Cons. I was optimistic that they'd tackle the Allicons next if those sold well, but now I'm just worried they're bending over and inviting a two-pronged legal foot up their reactor linkage.
Now, if they were doing some sort of enlarged and heavily modified remold of Darkmount on the other hand, that might just be worth the risk...

Re: I-Gear PP03e - Elegy
There has always been interest in the gold (chrome) plated transformers. If i-gears Gold Optimus Prime (PP01) is well made & doesn't start to flake etc. I think they'll forge themselves into peoples memory for a long time to come. Even though the PP01 costs US$300, if it turns-out to be well made, (it better be) people that buy them will be happy & I'm sure they will spread the word. I really hope the PP01 is good as I would really love one.
