Used to watch the cartoons of G1 when they were on and wondered a few things.
First off why did they design no mouth on Optimus Prime? Most of the ogher robots on either side have a mouth. Why doesn't Optimus have one?
And secondly how many episodes of the series featured the original Sam and Carly the blonde thing? Are there any pictures of them around the place that are not itty bitty?
I hope this isn't a silly question ......

The answer to your first question is that the show was created for the toy products and the original Diaclone truck that became Optimus Prime leader of the Autobots had a mouth plate over his mouth (if he had a human style mouth back then at all).
And Prime just looks cool that way.

As for Sam and Carly, I think they were just in season 2. In season 1 it was just Sam and his father. I think there was no more Carly after season 2, though she might have appeared briefly in a couple of season 3 episodes that revolved around Daniel.

There was no "SAM" in the G1 cartoon.
