While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.
TFCon List: Classics Skywarp, General Optimus, BW Airrazor, Transmetal Tarantulus, Alternity Prime, Fire Convoy

Hmmm. I've noticed quite a few people --die-hard fans-- haven't been as fond of these last issues, this whole season even. Not like Prime where people rather quickly snapped from "love" to "hate", but still pretty disheartening.
Kinda feels like we're just coasting on "James Roberts is the best thing ever!" at times....

There are so many little developments in each issue that when you look at them separate you go "ok, so?" But then 5 issues down the line they come into play so big and (here's the kicker) so logically, that you are blown away. It's all very "after the fact". We are seeing a very meticulously designed slow buildup and I hope, I HOPE that he can continue to do so without interruption. Other series can handle the toy tie ins and the face paced cartoon action. MTMTE is character driven. And I thinking needs its time to build.
Agreed so much. The Swerve story line for example: it started BEFORE MTMTE WAS STARTED. It led up to issue 43. It took almost 4 YEARS, 4 YEARS! for the storyline to play out fully, and it led straight to a DJD footnote and a Swerve whose character is in question by himself. This series is subtle, not in your face most of the time, and it's working so well

I do agree, and I know there will be a good pay-off eventually.
But this issue in particular just felt like a series of gags, linked together by name, fame and really good art. I'm not saying it doesn't feed into the wider story, but my feelings of reading it (three times, for review purposes) was just 'heh' and a smirk.

Never a bad thing though, especially since a little (or not so little) someone comes bursting in right at the end

The comic should not rely on 'right at the end' as much as it does. It has been doing that a lot.
I much preferred TF#45 to this one, with its gradual reveals rather than last page twist.

Even so, I really feel that we are expecting a lot after Elegant chaos. We're back to a little bit more fun stuff like issues 9-13 in my eyes, which is ok, need to slow down some so we can pick speed back right up. I doubt we're gonna get to the DJD anytime soon. Gotta wait out Defensor's return to the lost light

I can understand that view, but I like the "hook 'em at the end" approach personally. I think for stories like MTMTE where, until plans change, they're set to go on without end work well for that type of teasing. It's like WWE storytelling - it never really ends, and you better watch next time/Sunday/JOHNCENA. Only it's with robots, and it's consistently good.Va'al wrote:The comic should not rely on 'right at the end' as much as it does. It has been doing that a lot.

Plus it keeps us all chatting up about these issues in between releases, which IDW sometimes spaces out in torturous intervals. Probably also helped on this issue knowing that it was a two-parter going in, figured there'd be some hook on the last page and wasn't disappointed.

It would not surprise me to see a couple of the Scavengers end up returning to Luna 1 with Fort Max, to aid in Grimlock's recovery. Misfire, it seems, is invested in his well-being, and I could see Spinister tagging along, since it would make sense to put a brilliant surgeon in the most advanced medical lab in the galaxy if you're planning on "fixing" Grimlock. And that leaves the rest to take over Demus' business, something I'm sure Krok, at least, would want.

I mean, I was expecting Star Saber. But I feel this is somehow worse, especially given the affiliation of the Scavengers.

Yeah, If that was Star Saber, I would have been all like "Holy Bejezus!", but instead it is Fort Max, and that is all "HOLY FRIKKIN SCHCABOLI NUTS BATMAN!!!"

Personally, I loved the issue - can't get enough of the scavengers.
