Everyone that has seen them is pretty excited about them and that excitement is infectious. Still, if you wait to long to reveal them, they'll NEVER live up to my imagination of what they're like.
I went from being very jaded about this to being ok with it to now being pretty excited about this. I may have some sort of Transformers ADD. :p

Unless if he's just a simple soldier that is smarter than those above him, but it still sounds kind of strange to me...

I hate humans in TF stories, and the idea of them working together just gets me. If I wanted to look at people on TV, I'd put on a show, not a cartoon about robots.
As for the designs, we've only seen one or two so far, and they suck! But thats how most felt about the movie, and outside of when they moved to fast and all those features blurred, it came off well.
I'll give this a chance, but since the end of the Beast Era, I haven't realy been impressed with any of the shows. Too much stock, and to many people talking about teamwork and feelings, while all you really want is "The Gang War".
So lets see what happens, I want to stay neutral, but history has given me a reason to be jaded though.
I completely agree with you. The article mentioned a few details which made me cringe...
1. they will have powers similar to super heroes, yet they are mechanical beings so its a part of what they are..
2. they will be in a futuristic Detroit..
3. they will be fighting with humans, and humans already have robots called Automatons...sounds like a way to sneak minicons into the mix under a different guise..
4. Optimus Prime is an inexperienced leader trying to find himself, and there are superiors to him tat out rank him??
5. the art work still sucks, I don't care if the toys look great, it's still Teen titanformers to me..
6. working on shows with super heroes helped in their understanding and eventual team roster..
It's transformers not Super heroes!!
I guess I'll take a wait and see attitude, but as of right now this is my perception of the show and its not good so far.

As for Prime being inexperienced, War Within (one of the best TF comics ever in many fans' opinions) revolved around the same thing. Chill.

I mean, really--is it smart for the heads of power to put their lives on the line battling evil forces? No. That's what generals are for. Prime's leading a small group of Autobots on Earth. If he was leader of all the Autobots, then he'd be stuck at a desk listening to complaints about energon shortage in Sector 8, equal rights for all minicons, trying to appease anti-war demonstrators, and signing legislation into law.
Prime is a war leader: always has been, always will be. But that does not make him "The" top leader.

Bring it on, says I.
By the way, just to respond to a bit that stuck out while I was reading the comments:

6. working on shows with super heroes helped in their understanding and eventual team roster..
1. As somebody said earlier, a lot of the G1 TFs had mechanically-based 'superpowers', just like these: invisibility, forcefields, teleportation etc...
2. You have a problem with Detroit? It's Motor City, it makes as much sense to me to have this technologically-based series set there as anywhere else. And like the man said, it'll be a lot more exciting than fighting in the desert all the time.
3. Humans don't have, as you say, "robots called Automatons"... automaton is an actual word. It's an automated robot. The show's set fifty years in the future, people have robots doing a lot of the work... sort of like they said we'd have twenty years ago back in the sixties...
4. Why not? Like Black Bumblebee pointed out, if he's the guy at the top of the foodchain, he'd have been back home on Cybertron, running the planet. Do see the US President (not just the present one
5.... alright, not much I can say to that one - if you don't like the designs, you don't like 'em.
6. The key point he was emphasising is not the superhero aspect, but the fact that such shows have given them experience in exploring team dynamics, which, as far as I can see, is one of the most important things in a show like this. If you have a limited cast of characters, you want to make sure you've got the best possible combination, so you can make the most of the interplay between them.

HUzzah!!! I was about to give it a go there too about that. Detroit is the place where the future technology of cars basically started being produced en masse, so then why couldn't it be the center for the next future technology being massed produced...robots.
Skywarp-2, for someone with that moniker, I would expect you to be a little more open to 'bots with special abilities.
Besides those mentioned, I think Elita-1 could stop time briefly...I think she did it to save Prime, and Soundwave's bio has said that he can read the minds of some individuals.
I'm open, and it'll be interesting as the new year gets closer, what more we find out, and when we'll start seeing more of the toy designs released to the general public...perhaps after SDCC?

This show just keeps sounding better and better. You can tell that they have put a great deal of thought and work into this series. The animation style may not be for everyone, but the story and characters seem to be getting a lot of time devoted to them.
