I skimmed it looking for insight into Giant's scale with other figures and I think there are a few comments in there in relation to one or the other's scale vs MP figures

To clarify, I've done the comparison with Herc and prefer GG. I suppose it's more of a question of is he really worth the price and is he impressive enough in scope. I had seen a pic where he's not a ton bigger than MP Starscream which means he'd probably be around the size of the 20th anniv Masterpiece OP I have...maybe even a little smaller.
Everytime I go to order it I end up hesitating lol.

I feel like it has better presence. Both sets have a dud figure in robot mode. For Giant, it's Long Haul, who looks...movie-esq. For Herc, it's Mixmaster who is missing a key identification trait.
Both sets have issues. The only wrong way to take it is to be one of those people who can't acknowledge that both sets have merit.

I definitely love my Giant to bits, and am not personally interested in Hercules... but I shan't disagree with that statement! (That's why I've got Rated X writing me a series of guest reviews for my website, covering Herc.)
To the original poster: I love my Giant! I am sure you will, too! If you did buy him to put into a Masterpiece collection, however, I think you'll find he'll scale horribly. (Even the slightly larger Hercules, I'd think, is too small for that.) But as a stand alone piece (or if you also have a Classics style collection) Giant is awesome.
Also, if you don't mind the extra expense, the Reprolabels make him even more awesome.

And, of course, TFSource offers free shipping on orders over $150! So Giant could be yours for about $380!
Of course, Rodimus Prime seems to have decided on Hercules, and TFSource is asking about $520 for that set (and another $50 for the Rage kit) so not as nice as the place Gauntlet101010 is recommending. I love free shipping, and if god forbid anything goes wrong, TFSource does also have excellent customer service, but unless the place Gauntlet101010 suggested charges over $100 for shipping, you'd obviously be spending a lot less there.
Actually, looking at the place Gauntlet101010 recommended, I see they also have an offer of all six figures plus the Rage kit for only $20 more then without the Rage kit. With that, plus $50 shipping... For what these figures plus the rage kit normally go for, $470 shipped doesn't seem a bad deal.
Rodimus Prime, I still like Giant better, but even I'd be a fool not to say that if you've decided on Herc, you should buy it now before this price goes away!
I'm really leaning Giant for $380 from TFSource, but Herc with Rage addon from chimungmung for $470 shipped seems difficult to pass up.
I noticed BBTS has SG Herc (Perseus) with Rage addon for $450+ 16.xx Shipping for a total of $460ish shipped. Though the item is sub standard condition. If anyone has bought substandard, how banged up is it all? So I guess if you really want Herc and can live with the SG variant, this is even cheaper than chimungmung.
Anyone have other reliable/good store recommendations?
Robotkingdom has herc for $450 + at least $60 in shipping
Ages3andup has Herc for $600 + $45 for Rage addon and has Giant for $400 (Yellow) $450 (green)
I'm just looking at starting my combiner collection while maximizing my funds right now.

Well, if you're leaning towards Giant anyway, my recommendation would be TFSource. Free shipping on orders over $150, excellent customer service that will work with you to see the situation resolved to your satisfaction should you have any issues, and they have a "Source Stack" (similar to the "Pile of Loot" at BBTS) that lets you hold orders until you wish to ship them. (The Stack is an excellent way to get to that $150 for the shipping when ordering smaller items. Won't be a problem for something like Giant, but could be useful if you wish to order from them again in the future.)
And, with the $90ish you save going with Giant (who you said you were leaning towards), you could easily get yourself something else nice, as well! That's like one other really good third party item, or two or three good Hasbro items. You did say you're looking at maximizing your funds, so I should think this is something to consider.

A quick check of eBay shows Giant for insane prices, well over what he goes for in stores that still offer him. Hercules looks like he can be found for a little cheaper, but for about the same price as stores that still have him. If this is the case, I think people would be better off going through reputable stores rather then hitting up the secondary market where you take your chances with the seller you're dealing with.

I'm really going at this from more self restraint than budgetary limitations
I will take this into consideration though. I was hitting up aliexpress to see what they are going for over there and the prices are actually worse (with a whole lot more unknowns with the vendors)

If you want to pay lower, your going to need to invest some time heavily stalking out these Ebay auctions. Not just jump in quick hoping for a quick deal.

And all of the auctions you posted are ended, most of them around a month ago with at least one over two months ago. Probably why none of them showed up on my search.
Such prices may have once existed, but prices fluctuate greatly on the secondary market. They don't seem to exist now and there is no guarantee they will do so again in the future, certainly not with great frequency. You may see an occasional auction for a good deal from someone looking to unload it quick, but I expect that will be the exception rather then the rule. And more likely then not, they will be used versions, which could be stressed in ways you'll have no way of knowing about until you have it in hand. There are some things out there I can buy used with confidence, potentially fragile third party Transformers are not one of them if there is still an option to buy it new for close to the original retail.
Right now, you're better going with some of the more reputable stores, especially as protection against any potential defects where someplace like BBTS or TFSource will be able to replace or refund you, where as an eBay seller is just as likely to keep your money and say, "Well, sold as it. Not my problem."
This is especially a concern for people after Hercules. If buying from the secondary market, for all you know it could be old stock from when there were known defects, and you won't have a way to get the fixed replacement parts.

I said in a reply, That buyers need to be patient and stalk out these ebay auctions for a while in order to get the good low prices. This is why I provided those expired links showing both hercules and giant can be bought for much less than what import sites are selling them for.
This isn't about losing a debate reply. It's about trying to be helpful to other fans. Which is what I was trying to do. Even providing links with prices like was requested
Saying bold false statements Insinuating that those expired auctions prices will never be that low in the future is blatantly lying thus not helpful to members trying to buy this toy. All because you couldn't handle losing a reply debate.
