Interview with a fellow Seibertronian: TheMuffin (New Pics!)
- Motto: "Everything I do is divinely sanctioned."
- Weapon: Jawbreaker Cannon
Part 3 in a 35,933 part series...
CP: I'll start off by giving a warm welcome to our beloved mod The Muffin. How are you tonight sir?
TheIVIuffin: Oh doing quite well. How about yourself?
CP: Handsome as always, thank you for asking.
CP: I think the question on every one's mind is, are you the coolest mod? the smartest mod? or the most attractive mod? People want to know.
TheIVIuffin: Hmm. Can I be all three? I am after all, dead sexy, intelligent and downright awesome.
But if I could only pick one? Umm. Lets go with coolest mod.
CP: So, in your opinion, why are all the other mods so very lame and how should they strive to be more like you?
CP: (You thought this was going to be easy hunh?)
TheIVIuffin: They need to get some style in their lives. And I can help with some quick and easy steps.
Step 1: Wear helmets more often. You're only as great as the bucket on your head.
Step 2: Umm....Hmm.... I got nothing. That's my one shtick and it works so well.
CP: You've been around a long time now here at Seibertron. Who are the posters that kept you reading or prevented noob-ish tendencies back when you were just a mini-muffin?
TheIVIuffin: I think back then it was more along the lines of watching a select few others, and then doing the exact opposite of them....(coughjeep!cough).
Though I really looked up (and still do to an extent) the mods that were in place when I joined. Other than following their guidelines I just tried my damnedest not to act like a total douche. Worked out well enough.
CP: I've had an interestingly different experience.
TheIVIuffin: Are you saying you're the anti-muffin?
CP: I'm the CounterMuffin. Know all those blackouts you've been having? Waking up in strange places surrounded by sorority girls? Sorry about that.
TheIVIuffin: You make it sound like I was saddened by being in that predicament.
TheIVIuffin: Granted the hot irons and bleach was a bit much.... eh hem. Continuing
CP: I hear you're both a Star Wars fan and a Transformers fan. Which is the more respectable fandom?
TheIVIuffin: I think they both have their insane people. But seeing as there are fewer Transformers fans, and because we weed out the weak (say that three times fast), I believe the Transformers fans are a more behaved and presentable lot.... Least when we throw death threats out, they're toward a Hollywood director and not some poor woman who wrote a book.
CP: Indeed. On a related note, Michael Bay says hello. Would you care to pass any messages along to him?
TheIVIuffin: Sure why not. I'd like to tell him that I appreciate what he has done for the Transformers. That he has helped turn a bunch of kids toys into a blockbuster movie..... And because he has a damn good eye when picking leading female roles.
CP: Why do you like Transformers?
TheIVIuffin: I think I enjoy them so much because they are so wildly different from any other toys on the market. You get a robot.... And a car.... Or boat.... Or whatever. And I'm an mechanical drafter (a poor mans engineer), so seeing all the thought and work that goes into one makes me appreciate it even more.
CP: That being said, what's the best thing to happen to Transformer toys in the past few years?
TheIVIuffin: Alternators. It was so refreshing to see Transformers that changed into real life vehicles instead of neon colored 'future' vehicles. And the fact that they were in scale with regular die-cast cars was a huge plus. A lady sees little robots everywhere, she freaks and runs into the street screaming. A woman sees some random scale model cars, she just shrugs and says whatever. Finally the moniker "Robots in Disguise" has a bearing on real life!
CP: How do you think the fandom has handled the two drastically different takes on Transformers we've gotten in the past year (that being the movie designs and the Animated designs)?
TheIVIuffin: A whole lot better than I thought it would. I think a good majority of the fandom is always happy to see something new and exciting. It just comes down to the fact that people who are against new designs/concepts/styles, yell a lot louder to make up for how few there are.
CP: Are you cool with Optimus, now that he's openly flaming?
TheIVIuffin: I assume you mean his movie design?
CP: Take it as you will.
TheIVIuffin: Umm....Hmm....Let's say you are talking about the movie design. Yeah. I personally love how he looked. I like the flames a lot. Added some flair to his (in my opinion folks) otherwise boring paint scheme.
And I support gay robot marriage. Him and Tracks will get along swell I'm sure.
CP: So if there are gay robots, I have to assume you're cool with fembots and other assorted humanizations of Transformers?
TheIVIuffin: I certainly don't see a problem with them. Arcee sort of had some kind of purpose in Transformers. Right? RIGHT?!
CP: I always thought she was cool...
TheIVIuffin: Yeah but you also have knife fights with your other half.
CP: My fiance? How does everyone know about this stuff?
CP: What's your collecting focus? Do you have lines or figures you prefer? Any attempts at completion?
TheIVIuffin: When I first got back into Transformers (which was during Energon), I had this impulse to buy every figure in the line. I think it was mostly due to me having actual money to blow on whatever I saw. Since then I've calmed down and am very particular. So far Animated seems to be the first line where I actually want all of the figures. I find I enjoy the figure much more when it has a good cartoon to back it up.... And I'm a sucker for figures with tons of weaponry. I'm looking at you Cybertron Prime.
CP: What's the key draw of the Animated line? Are the critics thus far out of their minds?
TheIVIuffin: Simplicity. After the overall difficulty of transforming the movie line, it's a nice change of pace to simplify everything. And it has a cartoon that doesn't suck. The critics of course have every right to their opinion. Not everyone will like the same thing....Which I guess is why it takes people 10 minutes to choose something at drive throughs anymore.
CP: BotCon is right around the corner...BotCon question time!
TheIVIuffin: Oh boy!
CP: The 2k7 Set and its infamous seekers are:
a)A lucky break as we'd never have gotten them,
b)A pimp slap to the face of literally generations of collectors,
c)The most hilarious Itoldyouso moment of 2007 ?
TheIVIuffin: C) Definitely. I think most were just waiting for that to happen. And man did chaos ensue when it did.
CP: I have to admit, I had a 'lol' or two.
TheIVIuffin: rofl
CP: You'll be attending BotCon this year, yes?
TheIVIuffin: Indeed I will be.
CP: Excellent. You know there will be gaming and beers galore?
TheIVIuffin: Gaming is always good. And while I don't drink, I will have a good time watching everyone stumble around.
CP: Non-Alcoholic Muffins? What will they think of next?
TheIVIuffin: Muffins that run on water and produce only clean Hydrogen.
CP: It's time for some simple word association. I say something you give the first though that comes to mind. Cool?
TheIVIuffin: Okay....
CP: G1
TheIVIuffin: Nostalgia
CP: Starscream
TheIVIuffin: Whiny bitch
CP: 'After Dark'
TheIVIuffin: Before my time.
CP: GDPD
TheIVIuffin: Confusion
CP: Han shoots second...
TheIVIuffin: Poorly edited.
CP: Rebirth or Headmasters?
TheIVIuffin: Neither
CP: Marvel, DW, or IDW?
TheIVIuffin: IDW
CP: Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter?
TheIVIuffin: Street Fighter
CP: ok, last one
CP: Alvin Prime
TheIVIuffin: Godly
CP: Indeed!
CP: It's been fun chief, thanks for taking even more time out of your schedule for the denizens of Seibertron!
TheIVIuffin: I always have time to waste more time.
TheIVIuffin: And as always. A pleasure talking with a fellow crazy person.
CP: I'm only half-way gone, let's be fair.
TheIVIuffin: Okay okay.... You're one half of a whole lunatic.
CP: and you sir are both a scholar and a gentleman.

Regretfully I will not be attending Botcon this year, although I will be getting those figs preordered. No "I told ya so" for me.
Since it won't happen at Botcon, I'm glad to get to know another member a little better in roundabout, Counter-punchy sort of way.

Its always interesting to see how one's brain ticks, plus an interview is a great way to spread some community love around.
Our of curiousity, how are the interviews chosen? Is it a random thing, or one of those choose-by-date deals? I personally wouldn't mind being interviewed :b it'd look great on a resume:
"Successfully interviewed Ninja"
