I'm not one to complain about scale all too much, but I already have Deluxe WFC Soundwave. Not to say that the Deluxe figure is 'bad', but for me it does serve its purpose. However, I just like the 'of Cybertron' series and have been contemplating getting his bigger variant.

Is the FOC Voyager version worth delving into the character once more? Are his minions any good or do they take away from the figure?

My only complaint is the chest cavity being too tight to fluidly eject his minions.
Their semi-self transforming feature is a nice addition to the toys. I don't feel that they detract in any way and i'm extremely pleased that i purchased them. They make a great display piece, one big happy family.

Just an upscaled version, but cool.
Although I agree about the Chest. The data discs are a pain to get out.
And should have come with a gun.
I've bought so few pieces larger than Cyberverse lately, I had to have this one though.
Frenzy hooking in to make overhead guns is neat too.

Alternatively, get the Blaster remold. You'll get to keep both as different characters and G1 Blaster's toy has always been much bigger than Soundwave.

It's the closest thing Hasbro has given us to the original in both size, appearance, and functionality in a main line since G1. Of course, this has been trounced by the Masterpiece Soundwave in terms of these things, but it doesn't scale as well with a Generations collection as the Voyager FOC one. You might want to grab a G1 Soundwave hand weapon for him to complete the look, though.

I am glad I upgraded to the voyager mold. The larger size and the inclusion of the minions makes him look more Soundwave-y.

Exaaaaactly what he said. I got rid of my WFC Soundwave when I heard of the release of the voyager size. It never occured to me then but I own Music Label SW and if I get Blaster (Takara of course) it will capture that G1 look. It's a nice suggestion but if you're gonna get Voyager SW then make it yours man! :VEHI:

Well, that is interesting... But then there can't be a Soundwave without a Blaster.. and I do really like Black too. Then there is all those data disks. Well damn, there goes like $130. Damnit guys. What the FOC!

If you are not bothered by the height (towers over WFC Megatron) then go for it.

The data discs are kind of hit and miss.

Unlike everyone else here, though, I think the deluxe is the superior figure. It may not launch minions from a gaping hole in its chest, but it's better scaled and comes with his sonic blaster. I usually just use the Titanium series Laserbeak and Universe Ravage as his minions in my display, and find they work just as well.

It's not as though the minions are at all disc-shaped in the game anyway.

Haven't pulled the trigger yet, but is the disc ejection system as flawed as the majority of the Podcast guys and a few of you have said? It is a small sample size but I feel like I'm going to end up with a malfunctioning trio if I end up getting them.

It's pretty much a mess, though maybe you'll get lucky, like Peaugh, and have one that works flawlessly. I mean, I can see an easy way to probably fix it (file down some of the unnecessary tech-y bits on the inside of the chest cavity), but I haven't done so.

Why can't Hasbro make a repaint of the deluxe class WFC Soundwave to Blaster? :-(

I finally saw FOC Blaster today at Walmart but just couldn't justify my purchase because of his size and that over bulky chest.

I like the WFC version better also. But, being a huge Soundwave fan, I picked up the FOC version yesterday and I'm glad I did. The FOC version looks awesome in bot mode. I like the FOC colors/paint and body proportions better than the WFC version. In my opinion, WFC's torso is a little small and shoulders are a bit too narrow. I would like to have two degrees of freedom in the ankle joint like WFC has. The rest of the limb joints are nice. The head only swivels and is very, very tight on mine.

Getting Laserbeak out is quite a challenge as mentioned by others. Laserbeak itself is pretty cool.

As for the alt mode, I much prefer WFC. FOC has more open gaps and I don't like how the teeth/spikes on the front are fixed.

If I could only have one of the two, I'd choose WFC. Overall, I think FOC is a figure worth buying though, especially if Soundwave is one of your favorite characters.

I'm a sucker for the minion gimmick. Granted, no they don't pop out as easily as they could, but it's not like they're totally jammed in there or anything. If you play around with it you'll find that they fit in easier if you insert them a certain way.

I do really love the deluxe and especially his weapon storage, but the FoC's big bulky Soundwave look just wins me over. I'm also planning on getting Blaster, but skipping Soundblaster since I don't need a bunch of black Soundwave repaints in my collection.

I LOVE IT!

The minions are jumping out of his chest and auto-morph doing so! Just this was an instant sale for me. Plus, everything is great for this fig. I do had the deluxe first and I will not sell it ever. That's why the small one will stay in vehicle while the bigger one will be in glorious robot mode.

I passed on Soundwave until I got Blaster yesterday. I think his colors make him the superior version of this mold over SW and SB. I don't have the problem with the chest ejector, but if I get Soundwave, I might. I never got deluxe Soundwave, so I still need a game rep for my collection.

Picked up Soundwave and he beat my expectations... although they were rather low considering how polarized the views were on this figure. Alot of fun, and the chest seems to work perfectly on mine. Guess I'll turn the Deluxe WFC figure into something else (Ironhide

) and end up getting more of these data disks.

WfC Soundwave is way better. I admit FoC is a fun figure, looks solid in bot mode, and the chest gimmick is mostly cool, but the transform is wonky, the backflap is unsightly, and the alt mode sucks. It's good for a FoC fig since the line overall is ****, but the deluxe is a better fig all around.
