Is my G1 Springer missing a piece?

Is there supposed to be a separate piece inside Springer's weapons socket? I ask because my Springer's gun won't peg in, it just sits in there rather loosely.

WANT:
* Cyb. Galvatron key, missiles
* Omega Lock
* Primus Cyber Key, coattail panel
* Powerlinx Comettor
* Leader Sentinel Prime sword, shield
* RiD Galvy dragon head, beast arms
* Leader Ironhide windshield, R hood assy.
* Cyb. Wing Saber left chestplate (argh)

I am looking at my G1 springer with his weapon in his hand, and it is somewhat "loose".

I'm talking about the vehicle-mode socket. The gun fits nice and tight in his hands, but doesn't plug into the socket at all.

According to the pic I posted (and from memory) - yes, you can see the green plastic below.

Most likely thing is that the holder has worn over time.

Thanks, now I know what to do to fix the problem. The picture didn't help because the bottom of the hole is obscured by shadow.
