While I agree that making it an exclusive kinda sucks....
The whole point of exclusives is to make something that lots of people want so that they are more likely to come to your show.
What would be the point of making the exclusive a Wheelie re-issue or another re-paint of A sideswipe.

Exclusives are always going to be something lots of us want.
Get over it.

I, being an Alt. completist, will most likely be paying premium prices, thru clenched teeth i assure you, to get my Alt Hot Rod, but there isn't anyone making me buy it (besides my own sickness) and ther isn't anyone making the rest of you buy it.

If you think that they're ridiculosly priced and that they shouldn't be exclusives, fine. Make a statment and don't buy it.
Just makes it that much easier for me to get mine.
The opinions expressed in this post are well-reasoned and insightful.
Needless to say, they are not those of SEIBERTRON.COM, its staff members, or any other site lackeys.
Anyone who says otherwise is itching for a fight.

BUT, as an exclusive, they can get closer to their target market (the hardcore collectors that've been fans for years), and still offer the product at a decent price.

Well said... This, like the classics seekers, had to be an exclusive in order to exist at all. I get why people are annoyed... but Hasbro isn't trying to screw anyone over here. They're doing their best to get stuff out through any avenue they can. The haters are really starting to get on my nerves.

Dude, if my son whose 8 got to the store, and found all or most fo the movie figures out or the one he wanted gone, he'd be all over anything thats left, and this movie looks to be what starwars was Merchandise wise back in the early 80s, then expect anything with Transformers written on it, with a transformable bot to sell like hot cakes on a stick.. :-? hmmm never heard of that.... so....... why did I say it??? Hot cakes on a Stick... OMFG, I'm getting old!!!!! arrrghhhhh!!!!

Anyways............an ALternators Rodimus would completely sell out, you know how many collectors and comic shop horders there are out there, that alone could warrant a mass release..why does everyone hide behind the it wouldn't sell banner... its not true, atleast not in this toys case...but hey I'm just saying that this movie will rule, the toys will be scarce, trust me, its new and the feeding frenzy over stuff like this will be bananas...!!!!

Episode 1 all over again.. sigh... online order fingers at the ready, no stinky sweaty collectors or screaming kids for this Transfan, i got them at home on the weekends..sit back order online wait and display... ahhhhh I'll feel better once the Leader Class arives online at sale prices...

I wanted this, but I don't want it that bad. I can understand Hasbro doing the stupid "Evil Prime" garbage as an exclusive, but this should've been mass-produced.

Well, I'll be at SDCC, and like I said for the Menasor, I will pick up a few extras if anyone is interested. PM me, of course this is limited as I don't want to be carrying ten bags of stuff around downtown SD. And Hasbro puts limits on how much you can by anyway(N. Prime was 2 per person). The Hasbro line is about a good 2 to 3 hours out of the day as well, if the "elite" security will even let you in line.

At least some one else thinks the Movie figures are gonna sell out. Once the movie comes out evrey one is gonna want TF crap. If not for them selves then to sell on ebay. Grab what you can now because after the movie is out youll be hopeing that hasbro make a hell of alot of product. It'll be just like Star Wars episode 1. You were able to find the toys for a week when the first shipment came out then nothing for a while.

Well, if I've learned anything from my Nemesis Prime experiecne last year, I'll wait for it to turn up in retail. I spent $65 getting him off eBay, then Mr Toys Toyworld (Qld, Australia) got in a heap of them and sold them at $35. They get a heap of SDCC stuff.

So I'm waiting this one out.

Of course, no one near me (comic stores, etc.) will even get one of these. Guess it's the ol' 'bay for me (eBay, that is)!

The premise of the SDCC Exclusive is a joke. The idea of a convention exclusive should be to make something limited in quantity so that it appreciates in value. SDCC did the opposite with Nemesis Prime and watered down the value by flooding the market.

I am glad that Nemesis Prime became available to everyone who wanted him, but I feel bad for the people who were fooled that it was a convention exclusive and paid an inflated price.

If they intend to do the same thing with Hotrod, then you should be able to get him pretty easily.

Exactly what I thought. I read the word 'exclusive' on Nemesis Prime and thought it would be a stretch trying to purchase it. Little did I know that yes, the market was flooded and hence made the term exlcusive defunct. Interesting that the one Alternator I have not been able to get is Swerve, and he wasn't even an exclusive! You wouldn't believe so given the price of him on eBay :P

In my own hopes and desire, I wish they would release the Botcon Exclusives in retail in similar fashion, but I know they will not, as they understand the point to exclusivity.

Damn you Hasbro. You're bitchiness knows no bounds this year. Oh sure give us mountains of movie toys but make everything we want a damn exclusive >_>
Fingers crossed that like SDCC Nemesis Prime, Hot Rod will also somehow filter into the Australian market...

That's just want I want, another SDCC exclusive that Hasbro's own site screws up. I really hope they learned their lesson from the f###up with Nemesis Prme last year, but I doubt it.

BTW, when is SDCC this year??

Meh, i dont like that car, and Classics Rodimus and Tit Rodimus are far better looking in IMO.

Dont blow as gaskett over it.

Yes, but it is not every day we get a new Rodimus. Many fans like myself have had to endure a draught of over a decade before anything came through the pipeline.

Another Rodimus is always good.

Oh well. More money in my pocket, I suppose.

Lord knows I won't pay more than $40 for him anyway.

As much I like this mold and everything, my interest in the Alternators line in waning to the point that I don't care much. Rumble and Ravage, those are cool becuase at least they are something new, but this, I think I can go without.

While I agree with emeraldbeacon (lucky sod - comiccon in his backyard ;P ) that I'm happy they made it, I have to ask why does Hasbro do this? They have a specific con for Transformers fans, and yet they have exclusives available at another site. I'm not opposed to giving something special to SDCC but why not to Botcon too when IT'S YOUR FLIPPIN' CON!

I also am a little upset about alternators being the choice for SDCC. Hasbro allows special figures to be made for Botcon, but they tend to be across eras (BW last year; G1 this year). For GIJoecon, run by the same folks, Hasbro lets two scales of figures in for GIJoecon (12" and 3 3/4"). So why doesn't Hasbro do the same thing for Botcon?

But I concur on the "ebay" comments. I also got my Nemesis for about $45, so I'm not hurting there. But it is the point here - if Botcon isn't the be-all-and-end-all, then why not make it so?

Do they have exclusives for other Comicons? Like there's one that comes to Chicago in the summer, are there exclusives or dealers there or is it only a San Diego thing for some reason?
