Hmmm.....A nice color scheme. I'm not sure if I can go for the distressed look you gave him (I'm prone to thinking of A3 as being more fastidious than that) but I do like how the wash brought out the details of his robot mode. I also think Sage works Far better for a name for his partner
It even fits the bio they did for him. I think I'll call my Beta Maxx that if you don't mind. Very nifty.
Oh, and first post! WoHooo!
*does the happy dance*
What'd you use to produce the shoulder spikes? I'd also be curious if you had any ideas as to how one could modify Vector Prime's mold to more closely resemble the Last Autobot. I have a spare VP left over from the TRU set that I'd like to use for that.

I use 3/32' diameter clear acrylic rods cut and shaped to size, surrounded by a ring cut from styrene tubing. To made the spikes, use a Dremmel to taper and round off the end of a acrylic rod, then cut it to length. Do this twice, once for each spike. Cut four rings from the styrene tubing, and insert each spike into tow of them, one each, so that the rings are flush with the base of the spikes. Drill a hole in each shoulder plate, slide the spikes in from the inside and glue the spikes in place. Then slide each of the remaining rings over the top of each spike and push them down all the way until they reach the base and glue them in place securely. By having rings on both sides of the shoulder plate—inside and outside—this will add strength to the posts and keep them from popping out.
Also, I didn't use washes. It was a black base coat with drybrushed silver over it, then the use of colored clearcoats. The metallic violet paint I used is as close to a wash as I got, because it is a very translucent and watery paint.
Last night, I decided to add some color to the underside of Alpha Trion's vehicle nose. I also repainted my Beta Max based upon the drawing of him. I'll be posting more pics as soon as I've gone through them and cleaned them up. I did a huge photo-shoot of them.

You've obviously never seen his lab...
ROFLMOA

Seriously though, the point was to make him look really ancient, like some archaic Norse Warrior Sage with ancient battle armor. It also helps to bring out all those little details without having to paint each one individually.

Well, as promised, here are those updated pics.

Re: Alpha Trion.
does anybody know which transformers head was used for that cybertron cyclonus kitbash?
because that version of g1 cyclonus totally rocks
about the best i have managed to do so far is mod cybertron scourges head so that he has a set of high strength steel set into his forehead with the wires molded over in cured sculpey to reinforce the horns
other then that i also had to shave a 2 millimeter mlayer of the back of the head so that it would fit in place well enough for the vehicle mode
other then that the only thing i really did differant was that i modded the armor on the lower arms so that they would be sporting a set of main wings salvaged from energon windrazor to give him that set orf upright rear mounted wings for the vehicle mode with the legs folding up on top of the body in vehicle mode
