Astrotrain size
- Weapon: Twin Shoulder-Mounted Rocket Launchers
i was watchin Big Broacast of 2006, and i noticed that when Astrotrain fights Skylynx, that they're the same size! now before ayone mentions anyhting about animation errors, Astro train is supposed to be a transport, much like Skylynx, and i'm not huge o the whole mass conversion idea, so do you percieve him as a large of regular sized TF?

I've had this gripe about Tfs for a long time. I always percieved Astrotrain as regular size but he's a train and shuttle so how can he be? They've done this with so many but once they use a standard size for a Tf they should stick to it. I've seen Soundwave look like a minibot and Broadside look absolutely enormous! I still go with him being regular size though because that's how he was the majority of the time.

He is like the Tardis, small on the outside but has loads of room in the inside, he is basecly a Timelord created Machine, well that's my take.
He is regular size, a little bigger than Megatron, that screen cap you have there is an animation mistake, like most of season 3, I mean they show us a Soundwave sized Rumble!

fair point but i did say i DIDNT want to hear about animation errors! i'm aware that its an animation error, but it does highlight an interesteing point!

As far as I'm concerned, Astrotrain should always be one of the biggest in toy size and show size. Especially if he's meant to be large enough to be used as a troop transport.
But then to really fill that role he'd have to be Devastator size.

Re: Astrotrain size
Makes me wish i bought that oversized KO of Classics Astrotrain on Ebay last year. Love to see Tidal Wave repainted as Broadside too.
Personally, I'm more annoyed with the size inconsistencies in the toy ranges and any car larger than a basic/scout.
Actually wouldn't mind seeing Energon Omega Supreme repainted as Astrotrain with a remolded head.
On topic, Astrotrain and Broadside should both be larger whatever the medium.

Astrotrain's size in "the Big Broacast of 2006" wasnt the only time he was shown to be of a different size.
Look at the "God Gambit","The Gambler" and "The Secret of Omega Supreme" for other episodes that he was larger then your regular TF.
I wouldnt call it an "animation error" but an "animation inconsistency"I always felt he should have been drawn to be the same size as a combiner or the same size as Skyfire/Jetfire who was just a bit shorter then a combiner.

Re: Astrotrain size
I think it's more on a "size change" thing.
Like how Starscream's approx the same size as Megatron and Optimus.
Whereas a F-15 is like a few times larger than a tractor-trailer and definitely, a gun.

You want a plausable explanation? Well people have already hinted at it here.
In shuttle mode, he's big and, for the most part, hollow - lots of room for troops. That huge space inside gives his form a lot of room to fold in on itself, thus making him smaller.
.. best I can come up with anyway

I think the answer is Mass Displacement Technology. His regular design when he was created was probably normal sized and he was incorporated with M.D.T. Seems right. Like Megatron in gun mode or Soundwave and Blaster for example.

The same thing with Blast Off. He's a Space Shuttle too and he was always shown to be normal size as the rest of the Combaticons and every other Decepticon. But in One instance, that I can recall, they tried to make seem Huge such as in the episode "The Big Broadcast of 2006"

Man... so much of the Season 3 animation is utter pap. I can't believe they did things like having Soundwave squeezing himself out of Blastoff. It's just wrong.

Re: Astrotrain size
scale and TF.
so a tiny triplechanging toy that was probably made originally for the diaclone line (although it never appeared as such) gets to be a TF, as hes a shuttle hes big in the cartoon, no, hes massive in the cartoon, its called artistic licence. theres a pre existing toy and a kids cartoon and hes not in scale, who gives a damn: mass shifting, out of scale toys, its all part of the fun.

You make it sound as if he's giving birth to Soundwave. =xThunderThruster wrote:Tekka wrote:Man... so much of the Season 3 animation is utter pap. I can't believe they did things like having Soundwave squeezing himself out of Blastoff. It's just wrong.
