Nice!!! Time to start getting stuff in place. I love Disney and Universal, but it's going to be difficult to plan a trip to Disney without my kids.

Nope. The dolphin is one of the hotels. It is within the confines of the WDW complex, but it is not in either of the parks, although if I remember correctly it is really close to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

But being on disney property everything is going to cost a whole lot of scratch, especially food. I would not have chosen to have Botcon inside Disney property for that very reason. There are so many other places that are in Orlando that could host it. Hoepfully we will get somekind of cool aprk discount for attending.

You see! I told everyone Botcon was going to be in Orlando, I just got the dates wrong. It sucks as I cannot go this time round. I will be leaving for Europe or am supposed to leave for Europe in time to drop off my stuff and then take a 17 hour train ride to Denmark for the Roskilde Music festival. 150 bands over a 10 day period. I could come slightly late for Festival since the beginning are just warm up days, but I might not have a camping place if I do this. Plus it would be so expensive to lug all my stuff for my 2 month European vacation to Florida and then back to Europe, along with any Botcon stuff I might buy. I did it once for the Rhode Island convention, which luckily ended just before I needed to leave for Europe instead of during it, and it was just a complete pain in the ass! Airlines also weren't so strict on extra baggage back then as they are now. I also do not want to spend 134 bucks a night for a room when there are so many other hotels in Orlando where you can get a room for less than 100 bucks a night. Which reminds me, search around and I am sure you will find a much cheaper hotel somewhere close by. There are free shuttles everywhere because of Disney as well, so I would resist paying such prices for a Disney-esque hotel.

I am also a little bit upset that they waited so long to tell us the exact dates and locations. They have known for awhile now, and every day they take to tell us officially is more money it will cost the majority of us to book air travel. Sometimes the difference of a day can be more than a $100 change in airfare. They need to tell us the minute they know, and they have known for close to a month now when and where the convention would take place. I also think having a set time of year or even a set month would be better, so people could actually plan and save for the convention with some degree of certainty.

Honestly, I remember the hassles that occurred when Anime Expo was held at the Disneyland Hotel 9 years back. The whole thing was a gong show.

Disney Castmembers being rude to con attendees
Demanding dealers follow Disney's rules even within private paid convention spaces
Creating their own version of the convention t-shirt which they sold within the con space (official ones were white or black with images from Nadesico or Utena, Disney ones were white, pink, or baby blue with the Magic Kingdom Logo on the back

And people staying at the hotel (but weren't registered with the convention) got an extra treat that year. Disney Cast slipped letters under their room doors explaining how a private function was being held on site, that they might see many people dressed as characters not associated with Disney. That these people not Castmembers and were to be left alone. Please do not request any photos with these characters. Regardless many did as of course their kids would want pictures with Sailor Moon and other Anime characters that they recognized, and the vast majority of Cos-players were happy to do so.

Disney parks are wonderful if you are going to a Disney Park. For Fan Conventions, not so much.

Wonder why I did not get a club e-mail. They sure have been sending me e-mails about their toy sales.

Just an observation.

They should have booked the con at Disney Village where there are eating, drinking and entertainment possibilities. As far as I know the Dolphin is not in walking distance to anything.
