Re: Bushfires in Australia
Unfortunately there are knuckleheads that start these fires. By throwing lite up cigarettes on the ground when they finish. They don't even step on them. They leave the cigarette on and eventunally leaves, trees and other things catch fire. Risking their lives and other people. There are also others that start it on purpose ,and think it is joke. When it is not. We need to start caring more. Including the enviroment. I lament what happened there. I hope things get back to normal ,and no more cyclone wheelies.

i don't know if there the same over there, but thats why most american cigarettes now extinguish after about 30 seconds of not puffing them. they tend to go out while you're smoking them half the time and taste worse, but they GREATLY reduce the chance of house fires and wild fires.
But it still doesn't excuse the littering of non biodegradable crap. I'm a smoker but i'm as considerate as i can be about it. you don't litter butts, you find a corner not around people, and if kids are around blow the smoke into my shirt. I'm not trying to force my stuff on other people.

Re: Bushfires in Australia
So the fires have been burning for 18 days straight now, and it looks like Victoria is in for another scorching and windy weekend.
Hopefully the events of three weeks ago are not repeated.

Actually, most of the bushfires here in Australia that are started by people aren't accidental fires. They're deliberately lit by arsonists.
Sad but true.
