Sort of directly dragged over here from the Heavy Metal War Character Pics thread, since I felt like I should show this off to you folks too. (Warning, long-winded explanation ahead! If you just want to see pics, scroll down. XD)
Anyway, one of my original characters named Stormflash was sort of re-imagined into the Beast continuity as a hippogryph... which is basically a horse/eagle fuzor (head, front legs, wings of an eagle, hindquarters and tail of a horse). I actually did a bust of him that I have posted on DevART:
So it's obvious who I had in mind for the base figure when I designed him.
I got ahold of a Universe Silverbolt from BBTS (but missing both feather missiles, unfortunately). He's my biggest kitbash to date but hey, it turned out okay so it's all good.
The mod I'm particularly happy about involved the head swap. Stormflash doesn't have the dog face that Silverbolt has and there was no way I was going to sand it off/scratchbuild... so I got to thinking about a substitute head. My original idea was to use C. Hotshot, but the head was too wide and I had a better chance with Classics Rodimus. So, after much manhandling, cutting, and prying, I got the head off the post it's mounted on. Instead of simply cutting off Silverbolt's ball joint and gluing it on (since it probably wouldn't be that sturdy, even with Krazy Glue), I opted for something else: I chopped off all but about a millimeter of Silverbolt's head, leaving a crude disc attached to the ball joint and post. After some rough eyeballing, I sawed away enough of the left-over head, until it was about the size of the disc Rodimus' head USED to be mounted on. Pried the head open again, stuck it back in the hole, hit it with some Krazy Glue and bam, successful ball joint graft. Add to that some sanding and putty work, and I had his head all finished.

Alt Modes! I would have done a horse tail like a true hippogryph, but it would have messed with the alt mode so I just had to leave the tail feathers as is.

I know some purple inside parts are still unpainted. Unfortunately, I ran out of black paint, so I tried to just cover what I thought was visible. Once I get some more acryllic, I'm going to go back and fix up what I couldn't get this time around.
All things considered, Stormflash came out better than I could have hoped.
