It's not well known if I haven't heard of it.

8-Bit Theater, in every category. Brian Clevinger's an incredible writer.

If you can, read his book, Nuklear Age. One of the best books I've ever written.

Comics based on games I don't know? I have no useful opinion. However, I'm guessing that they have to follow the game storylines and not go off-message. Transformer comics are a bit better than that, although Hasbro pokes its nose in now and then.
