Categorizing your instructions.....

I've seen on the forums where some collectors have their instructions in binders and it gave me the notion to do the same. Now I got a question- how do you categorize them? For some reason or another I'm kind of stuck on how to do so. Can anyone shed some lite on my subject?

I started with my G1 reissues, and then moved on to my third- party and club and con exclusives. The problem i'm having is figuring out how to place all the classics, RTS, generations, etc. I think I have found a solution, though. Thanks....

I try to keep them by how they are displayed.
My G1's,Classics/Generations/RTS,Movie figures are together, Alternators/Binaltech, and Animated are together. Any other figures that don't fit in those categories go in the misc. pile.

I've been scanning (or collecting scans from others if I don't have them) instructions and card art and Tech Specs. The hard copies are going into my filing cabinet more or less unsorted, but the scans are sorted thusly:
Series - Faction - Sub-Faction (Seekers, Triple Changers, Leaders, etc.) OR Pricepoint (Legend, Scout, Voyager, etc.)
Series - Faction - Sub-Faction (Seekers, Triple Changers, Leaders, etc.) OR Pricepoint (Legend, Scout, Voyager, etc.)

I fold all of mine out as far as they can be to take up as much room as possible in a plastic archive sheet which then goes into a binder.
After that, they are all sorted by set.
I also have archive storage binders that store all of the cardbackers, packing inserts, and cut up boxes.
And to top it off, a spreadsheet organized by series telling me everything that I have.
Yes... I'm that anal-retentive.

I go by alphabetical order, one Autobot file, one Decep file. Whenever I have repaints or customs, I repaint the photo as well and change the name on the sheet, and stick to alphabetical order again.
"Everyone has a hobby.Even people who say they don't still have one under another name.If we're sick, injured, we still go to it and get down to see how it is.If it needs something, we bring it,make sure the attention is perfect. It exercises our care and protection and gives us back philosophies. It's a living thing to us,and is the most perfect way to teach a young person how to be towards a living thing. It's something that should never be taken away."

One Bot binder, One Con one. Each one is first arranged alphabetical, then multiple versions of the same name are arranged G1/classics/generations then BW/A/E/C/Animated/sublines.

By series, mostly.
Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.
