Very nice! I pondered something similar, but I knew how crappy my painting skills have been. ^^ Maybe I should try it now that I've learned about the concept of.. thinning..

My hands are really shaky, especially when it comes to painting small details. I masking taped his brow and mouthplate off, and used a toothpick, dabbing it gently in the paint that had collected on the inside of the cap, so as to not get too much.

Oh, yeah, and I went reeeeeaaaaaalllllllyyyyyy slow.

The stripes were easy, because they're already sculpted there, just not painted. I used a Gold Calligraphy "marker" pen, with a decently fine point. Open the cassette door when you do that though, so as to not mark up the sides. Thankfully I thought of that before doing the stripes (in the past, I wouldn't have been so smart!)...

Personally I've always preferred him with the yellow optics, but you've done a great job on this; very neat. The gold stripes are a really nice touch, too.

I'm looking at doing the same thing with the red eyes on mine as well as raising the face plate up to get it closer to the cartoon look.

are there any changes you made that you haven't mentioned yet? I don't own the toys and I haven't memorized all the details so I can't tell what's changed. I didn't even notice Soundwave's eyes were a different color.
