Curiously: Love the toy ... hate the show!

There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

Not really, Armada was poorly drawn and the other two series were mediocre at best. The digital animation in both Energon and Cybertron is horrible in comparison to BW/BM, just look at how expressive they were in BW/BM and how they looked like puppets in Energon and Cybertron.

(Just look at Cyb Prime, he really does have a puppet mouth.)

i ment as far as the humans in the show went the bot's looked like crap

I love my Tidalwave, but not really a fan of energon. I don't think the show was all that bad but it could have been better with a few changes. Although I havent seen superlink so I can't coment on that version.

Anything, I ever owned from RID, really the only TF series I dislike. You might call me crazy but I liked Energon more than RID.

I know. They couldn't really find a plot that they wanted. From Earth to Unicron to other planets to Cybertron with Galvatron...ug. Make up your mind!

I liked a lot of the figures, though.

The Armada Trilogy was awful but I love all the basics from Energon and Cybertron and all the seekers.

Would love to see the following repaints:

Divebomb: Banzai-tron
Clocker: Hot Rod
Tidal Wave: Broadside
Strongarm: Roadbuster
A Skywarp: Skyfall

I know Skywarp and Tidal Wave aren't Basics but still love to see those repaints.

There is one toy that I am truely in awe of, and wish there was a character for him. Battle Unicorn from Beast Machines. The toy is great, and in my top 3 for best toys for Transformers.

I rather perfer Micron Legend, Superlink and Galaxy force. I have no problems with them, but there US counterparts AKA (The Unicron Trilogy) are just lame excuses, Poor writing and voice casting etc

Pass on it, WheelJ. We all have much, much better things to do. It's okay, really. I said what I needed to say and if all I could get out of it as a result was a 'yawn' .. heh. Well then.

Back to the thread. I also forgot to mention this urge/need I have to automatically want the Starscream, Thundercracker, & 'warp seekers of each series regardless whether of not I ever even lay eyes on a single episode of any of those shows.

Me too, but thats more from my love of planes(my grandfather was in the army air core, then airforce and instilled this love of planes in us). I haven't gotten the cybertron starscream because of his size and I couldn't find the two pack version either.

Vector Prime is one of my favorite concepts so far - and the figure is very impressive towering over the other ones. I have a hard time watching Cybertron, but I can't place exactly why. Somehow it just feels "cheap" to me, and the humor falls flat too often. Maybe most of the humor in G1 wasn't intentional, but I guess that's part of the charm.

Yeah, that did get old. I just didn't get how they ended up on the next level down each time when they would get blown UP.

Surely the citizens of Gigantion's construction isn't THAT shoddy where when they land, they go through the floor.

Why do you now have me seeing Cybertron Thundercracker in the role of Meowth? :P

Personally I can't say I hate any show but I like Energon the least out of it all. Like the toys though.

That wouldn't be too hard since RiD sucked show wise and toywise other than Optimus Prime the rest of the orginal molds were complete and total crap and the other toys (the G1, G2, BW, and BM repaints) seemed liked it was trial run for Universe.

I liked the toys from RID, they were close in size comparison to the G1 and I thought had good colors. The cartoon was too Looney Tunes for me though. I also like the Terrorcons but never got into the other aspect of Energon as a cartoon. I was always rooting to the Terrorcons as they so outnumbered the Autobot ranks.

I have always tried to collect every Optimus Prime released and when paired with Wing Saber, Cybertron OP was one of my favorite Prime toys in the standard lines. Unfortunately, he was also the wimpiest and whiniest Prime in the cartoon, which made me want to gag. He ALWAYS lost battles, and talked far too much. Not like the old John Wayne rifle-totin' Prime I loved as a kid. It contrasted even with the OP that was in Armada (I know they are supposed to be the same) in that Armada Prime could scrap and the final battle between him and Galvatron at the end of Armada was FANTASTIC! No link-ups, no upgrades, no powerups, just all out can-openin' whuppin'! One of the greatest fights ever!

Thanks for the greeting - I was going to point out that specific "Team Rocket" similarity but didn't know if other people would have felt the same way :)

i liked Vector Prime too, but i think it stems from his tribute to the last Autobot. Couldn't watch all of Cybertron, and i tried harder than i did with BM.

Shockfleet grabbed me on his name and box art alone, I don't think he ever showed in Energon. Should have had a profile close to Dreadwing's but... I found it hard to watch also. Though i am still thinking of taking E-Magnus, A-Jetfire and Universe-Magnus to make an UltraMagnus  if i ever try to kit bash a TF

I loved the Cybertron toys but hated the show. Only saw like 5 episodes, but it was enough for me to rush to judgement. But Cybertron did have some excellent toys. Cyb and RID are the only Optimus Primes that I really really like.

Cybertron wasn't THAT bad, but at the end of the day it's story was as dodgy as Armada and Energon. G1 I tolerate these days simply on nostaglic value.

So really, out of all the series there's some pearlers of figures, but really, the cartoons bar BW/BM sucked.

Of course there's some characters like Energon Ironhide who sucked in the cartoon, they sucked in the comic, and their toy just plain sucked beyond all comprehension.
I quite agree, I can only sit down for some G1 eps, like Vector Sigma and such, all of Beast Wars, still waiting on Madmans BM and Cybertron is a massive improvement over A/E.
