a friend is asking my help for a yuusha-tf crossover fic and his plot has a human buying off cybertronian technology from probably swindle but what would swindle want from a mere human to sell him/her transformer tech?

Maybe he'll offer up his services to Swindle? Owe him a favour if he's ever in need?

Or, as a plot device, put the Decepticons in temporary need of some component he's likely to have.

Large quantities of kerosine could be converted into Energon.

Or you could use credits..
In almost any sci-fi I have read they mention them.
Or have some doodad or service Swindle is unable to get that only the human can, and that could be the barter.

What if there was a Cybertronian Virus? Swindle could trade some technology with the human because the human would be able to be near the virus, and he couldn't. But he has to give the human some technology so the human can use it to create a cure. But the human might be able to keep the technology as a return for the favor.

Back in the old comics, I seem to be recallin' 'shanix' bein' a common name for Cybertronian doubloons...

If Swindle is on Earth, then Earth currency would surely be fine?

Isn't the universal currency Shanix?

It's used by 'aliens' and bounty hunters throughout the universe.


If it's futuristic Earth, you can use shanix.

If it's season 1/2 style earth, I'd go with energon.

But where would humans get either of those (and that's assumuing the guy is writing G1 comic not cartoon)? I say go with Earth currency. Swindle is always going to be able to use it to buy goods or services from other humans, especially if he's on ebay.

Oh, and the other problem with energon is it gives humans cancer. Everyone who watched Sealab 2021 knows that.

Soo thats why some figures have been so hard to find. I wish the higher-ups had told us they were using that means for our funding, it would have been nice and kept me from unneeded aggravation trying to find stuff on E-bay.
