explain the armada series
walmart has best of the autobots and decepticons dvds for sale. the backs of the packages sound like the characters i know (more of the classics). i did post about a similar topic before, but out of the three series of dvds i see in stores (armada, energon, and cybertron) i would like to buy the one that resembles the originals as much as possible. thanks.

That would be none of them.

For anyone who hasn't seen Spotlight: Sledge (and why not?!), my gritty and dark fanfiction piece "Holiday" is posted here.

Of the three you mentioned, I think Armada most resembles G1, since it is hand-animated and involves Unicron in something resembling his G1 form. Still, the first answer has it right that none of them are very much like the original. Just remember that Armada generally gets a rap for being pretty insufferable early on, and it gets interesting (or tolerable) further on.

They are all very different from the original G1 series.
Armada starts off with a "Gotta Catch them all" theme with the Minicons, introduces new characters to each side, then throws in a few twists until the final dozen episodes show a truly Galatic war between Autobots and Decepticons, something no other series has come close to showing previously or afterwards.
Energon is a continuation of Armada, with the early part of the series focusing on Autobots fighting Swarms of drones for Energon, leading to A reborn Unicron and an insane Galvatron.
Cybertron is a standalone series (but it has been forced to try and be a continuation of Energon), and starts out with the Bots and Cons searching for Cyber Planet keys, while travelling the galaxy. It's pretty much how the series ends too...

I will have to agree.....The very idea of allowing human children participate in a millenia-long war between super-huge robotic aliens just smacks of "CRAP"! Among other things in those series'....just basically poop-on-DVD

In Energon, if optimus were red then they're would be s good resemblance in there except due to the loss of old characters we used to know and love*
It has Unicron in it only in a blackened and more evil looking form and it starts off wtih the original White Megatron and Purple Galvatron.
If only Galvatron in this series was created by Unicron and if there was an entire new design instead of repaints then that would Totally rock.

Then all of Transformers is retarded, we should pack it all in and go home.

It seems to me that a beloved 1986 movie and a certain 2007 movie both involve humans in struggles that are beyond their control and larger than the ability of the characters to deal with.
I also seem to remember a 1980's cartoon where Optimus Primes entire life was stored on a 5" floppy disk by a kid with technology on his desk that aspired to what the Apple 2E would become.
Say what you want about Armada but Alexis and Rad were actually decent characters. Kicker, Coby, Koji, Sam, Marissa...etc the list goes on. Humans have been a good and valuable part of the story. Just because we're all over 13 (for the most part) years of age now and have discovered cynicism doesn't mean we can ignore the humans.

Hey, uh, just outta curiousity, what happened to Arcee in the Rebirth? Like, Skullcruncher was going to bite her, but stopped parted of the way through. I thought that was weird
(That was facetiousness, for those not getting it.)

I'd definately go for Armada. It's my fave in general.
I was okay with Energon because even though the CG thing was stupid, I liked the stories.
But Cybertron kinda pisses me off... A lot of it sucks compared to Armada and Energon... (I say this even though I've seen almost all the eposodes of it.)(Makes me sound like a hypocrite.)

I think that was just in the comic.

Armada had strong hints of G1 scattered among the series. At times you see flash backs of war where Jetfire, Strafe, Hound, Prime, Jazz, Hotrod, Magnus, Wheelie, Weirdwold, Misfire and even Rhinox (and a dozen others) make a brief apperence and got the whole fandom really excited to see something crisp, clean and what looked to be very entertaining. What we got was Armada. The first three (maybe) and the last five were the only good episodes, the rest were too poorly dubbed and animated for anyone to really get into it. I do strongly recommend watching the tail end of it. Mortal Combat may be one of my favorite Transformers eps of all the series.

Armada also gave us more "Nemisis Prime" action too...
