I wish I had a red head, too.
I think part of the issue is that my Autobots have grown more and more IDW inspired and there's no silver torso option. I'll probably go with blue after I move since my 'Cons have become very FunPub Wings-verse inspired.

Okay, I finally got to take some pics of Volar, after I swapped for the blue torso. (BTW, this is not for the faint of heart. He does not come apart easily to swap the torso.)
I took pics with Planet X's version too. What do you think?

I don't like how Volar's head cannot go up more, so he looks like a flying Pterodactyl. He is perpetually looking down for food, it seems.

Yeah, he grew from just prior to leaving Cybertron to when Wheeljack rebuilt his body. Or something like that.

Volar and Columpio! I like how these guys look together!

And, sorry, the slightly reflective surface is messing with my camera a bit. I might need to fiddle with the camera settings and see if I can get some consistent exposures.

Good size with Classics Prime IMO.

CW Prime is huge, isn't he?

And I'm really starting to think that Planet X's are a tad small to mix and match. I'll be happy to have a full set of FP and PX representing G1 and Pre-Earth Cybertron versions of the characters. If you really want to see a comparison shot, let me know. Hopefully the photo-blitz isn't too bad here...

He's alright. Doesn't tickle me as much as the last two, but he's not bad. Though the bottom screw stripped when I tried to swap him to blue torso. Man that took some serious effort to do. Grimlock will have to be something really special to make me replace my FOC Grim with him. Then it's the new guy, and Snarl last, right?
Typical the last one I want is right at the end. Still, gives me money elsewhere.

Is swapping the torso just time consuming, or extremly complex ? Any pin removal involved ?

No pin removal involved, it's also not time consuming... just be careful with it, lot's of ball joint popping, which I wouldn't think is that scary until that time I broke off Generation Skids' hips...

Yah, and no real opportunities to loosen screws or something to make it easier. The arms were some of the most scary for me. The shoulder is on a ball joint and a swivel. That made it more difficult for me...
[Edit] Except for the head. Definitely loosen those screws! (If I remember correctly...)

Did anyone notice the Grimlock preview on the back of Swoop's instructions?
Frankly, I don't like the silhouette from what I can see. I really want a preview of it so I can decided if I want to bail for the Toyworld Grimlock instead.

I completely agree! I saw it and I am not impressed. I don't mind a more "Classics" interpretation, but if that silhouette is accurate, I'd rather have FoC, or even actual Classics Grimlock, which I do like very much. He'll just be more than a tad small with his brethren...

Not a big fan of Classics Grimlock, and I still haven't picked up FoC Grimlock despite really liking the design.
I wasn't too impressed by the silhouette either. I first thought it might be the bonus character, as that's heavily rumoured to be a raptor of sorts, but the more I look at it the more I think it's a Rex of some kind. Looks a bit too skinny for me, but it's just a promo shot.
I've just got hold of Volar. I like him, but he has his flaws, like the other 2. His transformation is nice and simple, and less fiddly than the other 2, who can be a little frustrating when trying to get their alt mode bodies to take shape. I think he looks great in bot mode and the Dino mode is cool too. I'm not bothered by his chunky legs at all, as I prefer that to the squat body types, and his wings are really impressive (dat wingspan!). The major criticism I have of him though is that he's a bugger to get into a good pose and is a little unsteady on his feet. I can only seem to keep his legs in a wide stance in bot mode. Thankfully the torso can do an ab crunch forward to try and keep him balanced, because he can be back-heavy with the missiles attached to the wings.

Would any of you post a scan of this image from the Volar instructions? The only thing I have to reference a FP Grimlock is from last year (I think):

There are some on tfw that claim to have seen pics of FP Grimlock at a convention and this silhouette is not what they saw.

So is THAT the pick in Volar's instructions? Because I do remember seeing that one before, and I believe that was a raptor or some such. Definitely don't think it's Grimmy.

Yep, that's the pic. I hope y'all are right! I certainly expect more from FP for Grimmy.

Hey!
Those ball joints on the arms are hard to swap when putting in the blue torso.
It's actually easier to open the torso and swap the bar they attach to.
No weakened joints, no stressed plastic, five minutes more work.
I'm certain it is. Grimlock is next on their list at LE-04. They have previewed with a silhouette each time.
Your reaction is exactly mine though. It doesn't look like it should be Grimlock, but I'm fairly certain it is. It's a shame.
Or so I'm led to believe until we get better pics.

Going off of that pic, I see plenty of tail dragging going on. (which is good in my opinion) Theres really no confirmation that silhouette is a raptor. It just doesnt have puny arms like a t-rex should. Maybe its a sort of hybrid dino mode with bigger arms for increased posability. I can forgive the arms if the rest of the dino mode is all t-rex.
