FE vs RiD Voyager Primes

So, what's the difference? I haven't been able to find any good pictures of the RiD one. I own the FE, so I don't really have any desire to get the other one, but I'd like to know for curiosity's sake if the RiD version is a remold, or just a repaint...
Thanks!
Thanks!

The RID Voyager Prime is a completely new mold with a completely new transformation. Some of the differences include NOT cheating on the windshield chest and RID Prime having a bigger backpack. Also, the RID Prime has electronics and completely different weapons.
I have the FE Voyager Prime and am perfectly happy with it. Based on what I've seen from the RID Prime, it seems to be inferior to the FE version. The only place where the RID version wins is in not cheating to get the windshield chest. Also, the RID Prime has a shorter (almost stubby) vehicle mode and I'm almost positive the figure itself is shorter than the FE version.

The review includes a number of comparison photos with the FE Prime, especially in vehicle mode.
Completely different tooling.
You are correct, the RID is shorter.WolfDawg wrote:I have the FE Voyager Prime and am perfectly happy with it. Based on what I've seen from the RID Prime, it seems to be inferior to the FE version. I do appreciate that the Powerizer mold actually has rearview mirrors.
I see absolutely no reason to buy the Hasbro release if you already have a First Edition version.
On the other hand, the addition of a number of paint ops (as also demonstrated in the link above) would vastly improve the figure (particularly more red on the forearms and torso), so it's remotely possibly that Takara may improve this sow's ear with AM-01, which I'm interested in for the Micron. I'm not holding my breath.

Thanks for the link.
Looking at this, it kind of strikes me as a "six of one, a half dozen of the other" kind of situation. There are things that are better about the FE mold, and there are things that are better about the RiD mold. Ultimately, I think I'd be happy with either one, but I'm glad to have a FE.
It's funny though, in terms of "show accuracy" there are a few things that RiD does better than FE, and a few where it falls short. Off the top of my head:
RiD more show accurate:
- The feet / shoulders. The "wind breaker" or whatever they call those things on the top of trucks actually form the shoulder armour instead of there being "fake" shoulders like on the FE figure, and thus the feet look more accurate.
- The window-chest: I guess this doesn't look "more" accurate in robot mode, but it's a more accurate transformation in that it's not fake. Plus, the side mirrors are present in truck mode.
Less accurate:
- WEAPONS. I get that they are trying something different but those weapons are terrible, and look nothing like Prime's stuff from the show, so I'm not a fan.
- Back Kibble / Smokestacks: FE Prime's back isn't perfect - but RiD's is worse. On top of that, the RiD smokestacks don't seem to come up high enough to be visible over Prime's shoulders.
- Arms. Not withstanding that they are clear ('cause let's be honest - they could just be painted) they don't look quite right from the sides. Too blocky I think.
So yeah, that's my 5 cents. Either way, I think this figure is just as good as the FE one, if only it had more accurate weapons!!!!

The RiD Cliffjumper is terrible compared to the FE one. Only thing the RiD does right is to avoid the butt-horns, but that's it.
Look for the pictures. I'm too lazy to post them.

As I stated in another thread, there are things about both of the Cliffjumper figures that I like, but I'd give the edge to the FE one based solely on the arm cannons. I LOVE that they are integrated. Overall, I think FE CJ is better anyways, but the cannons really seal the deal for me.
That being said, we weren't talking about CJ here, but the Voyager versions of Optimus from the FE and RiD lines. What are your takes on them?

My bad, didnt read the whole title correctly.
I own the FE voyager Prime, of course. He's just perfect. Perfect vehicle mode, perfect robot mode, and a complex and fun transformation.
I only saw the video review of the RiD voyager Prime. From what I saw, his vehicle mode is iffy, and the robot is not perfect because of clear arms and HUGE flat backpack. Only thing going for him is that he don't cheat for his windsheild boobs.
If you care about show accuracy, you'll get the FE Optimus Prime right now.

No worries, man!
You make a good point though... I HATE backpacks on Primes, and it seems quite a few lately have an excessive amount of back kibble. While RiD Prime's doesn't stick out too far, the fact that it is two solid pieces is hugely disappointing. FE Prime has some back stuff going on, but because it is layered and not too bulky I don't mind it at all.

RID's got light up gimmicks, transulecent blue on his arms, chest, and guns, no red paint on his torso, and a backpack with 12 history books in it.
Basically, the difference is the RID version sucks.

There's a review of RiD OP with some comparison to the FE.
He forgot to compare this, but the vehicle mode of the FE is way superior too.

Now that I've seen a bit more of these Primes side-by-side, I think I know what really bugs me about the RiD version.
Why are his "ribs" grey? I get that the forearms are blue for the light-up feature, but having the torso grey really wrecks the figure's paint job.

After a while the PRiD Optimus starts to grow on me. Until I take another look at the FE Optimus and my hatred of the PRiD is renewed. I might get the Weaponizer Optimus, he looks ok.

Well, seeing the comparison pics, the RiD version is out. I really hope that Hasbro does find a way to get the FE figures to us later this year, because otherwise I'm not going to have an Optimus to go with my Prime Autobots.

You realize that you just purchased 4 of the Deluxe FE Prime, and not the Voyager FE Prime people are talking about, right? The voyager is the one that's difficult to come by, unless you live in Canada.

Oh god, why? Deluxe FE OP IS a great figure. He's not THAT great. When I realised he won't be reissued, I opened mine without regret, but ordering 4 is just overkill. He's not rare at all and unless you plan to give some to your friends, you'll be stuck with them forever.
The money of the 3 others would have been better spent on a voyager FE OP. Even if you'll have to buy it on Ebay. I hope it is not too late for you to cancel the extra 3.
