Finally Castlevania on the PSP

Postby sniper_samurai » Fri Feb 02, 2007 6:36 pm

Finally after over 2 years the PSP finally has a game that is worth the asking price(imo) that isn't a port or a rehash of a PS2 game. Castlevania:Dracula X Chronicles although still a rehash of a game, its the first time Rondo of Blood has been made available in English and has the added bonus of the original PC Engine version and arguably the best Castlevania game, the soon to hit XBLA Symphony of the Night. I was thinking of getting SotN when it became available on XBLA( despite having the Euro limited edition of it on the PS1 with the soundtrack and artbook) the ability to play this awesome game on the go tips it in the PSPversions favour.

Well, crap. Now I have to buy a PSP.

However, I will gladly shell out just about anything they ask to finally play a version of Rondo. The original Dracula X and SOTN are gravy.

And now I finally have justification to get the Ac!d titles and Portable Ops.

I apologize for the double post, but the more I think about this, the more ecstatic I'm becomming.

Rondo of Blood is the only Castlevania title I've not played, and to finally get my hands on it . . .

Unfortunately, I'll probably be out of the country when it comes out due to job-related issues. I guess I'll have to preorder it and ship it to my parent's house.

On a tangent, I guess this neccistates the purchase of a PSP. Castlevania is the only game series that can sell me a system, so I'll look for some used deals while I'm about tomorrow. And Portable Ops is not going to hurt matters, either.

At least a decent number of copis are made for the US market. I've only seen one copy of Dawn of Sorrow on the DS in the capital which I quickly picked up and the same goes for SotN, the rest of my Castlevania games are all US imports. Cheap US imports FTW

It's always surprised me how underappreciated the Castlevania games are. I picked up Japanese versions of Belmont's Revenge, Circle of the Moon, and Harmony of Dissonance while I was in Osaka for a song.

However, Rondo of Blood still fetches well over $100 on eBay. I would have bought one long before now but I wasn't sure of the system requirements and didn't really want to be stuck with a game I couldn't play.

Hopefully, this will more than make up for that god-awful SNES Dracula X "port."

I'm glad that the classic mode will be included. While the 2.5-D looks great, Richter still looks way too stiff in the videos for my liking.

I'm kinda glad they're going to make another of the older-style games. Don't get me worng, I've played quite a few of the SOTN clones, but IMHO it does get kinda boring after a while, & no matter how they change it up, it feels like I'm playing the same game over & over (I own Dawn of Sorrow & have yet to finish it....or hardly pick it up, for that matter). So I'm kinda glad to play an updated version of a game I've never played.
