G1 Seeker gestalt.

I understand this might have been talked about before. I don't remember being a part of any conversation regarding this, so I wanted to discuss it. There were 6 original Seekers in G1 (some people consider only Starscream, Skywarp, and Thundercracker originals and not the coneheads) and they would have been able to combine somewhat like Devastator, having 6 components. What I am curious about is what you think of this. Would a Seeker gestalt be useful? Practical? Unnecessary? Could Starscream be in control, like the other team leaders are for the other gestalts?

I don't think the other team leaders have ever really been all that in control. The gestalts vary psychological, but generally it seems to be a matter of the gestalt acts on whatever common impulse can be ascribed to all the components.

So, Devastator is basically a scorched earth WMD because the only thing all the Constructicons have in common (despite being nominally devoted to construction) is the desire to demolish things. Superion fights Decepticons. Defensor protects the innocent. Predaking hunts. According to one source Bruticus follows orders (which doesn't fit the cartoon, but hey). Computron seemed to represent an attempt to get around that limitation by having all the constituent personalities completely suppressed in favor of an AI controlling the gestalt. Menasor seemed to be an attempt to get around it by putting one guy on the team everyone would be terrified of, so he would have total control.

But, I mean, the different continuities have been all over the place with what's entailed in combining, psychologically.

I think a Seeker combiner would be fun because I can imagine Starscream devising one with the assumption he'd be in control and super-powerful, then finding himself very much so not in control as he's flooded with all of his fellow seeker's thoughts. Thundercracker's doubt, Ramjet's aggression, Dirge's insecurity, Thrust's ego, Skywarp's... stupidity.

Additionally, if you went with a scramble-city combiner rather than a Devastator-style combiner, it'd make a good excuse to upgrade him to a new body, one that looks a lot like Silverbolt but remodeled in black.

Seeker Gestalt exists purely to push other gestalts down very large stairs.
