Ghostbusters: Afterlife
So we're getting what appears to be a cross of Stranger Things and Ghostbusters. I am intrigued to say the least.
So since Vigo perished, there have been little to no ghost sightings. (largely due to Murray jumping on and off the boat on whether he'd come back for a third film) So the boys shut down operations and went their separate ways. A family, related to one of the Ghostbusters (Egon, likely through a marriage that pre-dated the first film), is broke and was left an old farm comes across the equipment. At the same time, strange phenomena have been occurring beneath the town which is near no tectonic plates.
CGI is clearly not done so little to nothing on ghost but I am guessing that ghost trap has a certain occupant inside.

Everything about this trailer was pure gold. May we now forget that Answer the Call ever existed.

Any word on delayed openings for this movie due to the Coronavirus crap?
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

Nothing yet but I would already assume every movie is delayed until given the all clear.

Can't be worse than that other movie they gave us. I'm quietly confident that this will be an acceptable outing, when we're allowed outings again.
Something memorable here.

Agreed. It was an ENORMOUS flop. People accused of the failure on misogyny, but I think it was because 1) it wasn't really Ghostbusters despite the name, and 2) it sucked.

I saw it once, it was alright for what it was. I didn't consider it blasphemy like some of you may have, because I don't hold the original in great regard either. The new one wasn't good enough for 2nd viewing, but I didn't leave the theater thinking my time or money was wasted. I have the same expectations for this film. I'll go see it and most likely a week later forget about it. I am a big fan of the Real Ghostbusters cartoon, though.
Also, Negare, holy crap.

I'm roughly in the same boat. It wasn't great, but it was by far no where near the level of the original two.
I think all the negativity surrounding it probably soured me a little. It was one thing for "fans" to rage against it (with some going too far), but for the cast to turn around and make comments about "hiding in their mothers basement" ... there was no need to stoop to their level.

Yeah it sucks, but there is no over reaction. My wife is a nurse, and if anything, we aren't reacting strongly enough. The next couple of weeks are going to be some of the darkest in American history, and all because we are too proud to stay home, and too money hungry to close business.

I also am an RN. I am in grad school and we've been reviewing the data and research as they get released in two of my classes.
The reaction is over the top for a lot of the country. They needed more precise quarantine, not blanket state or national shutdown. This is going to completely obliterate rural America- the cities will be able to recover due to sheer volume, but rural counties (we have 2 CoVid cases in our county, both isolated and quarantined) are not going to recover. The small businesses already teetered on the brink and their loss with result in catastrophic loss of jobs. Rural America has higher poverty levels and lower median income than urban areas. The only viable recovery for them would be to restart business outside urban areas first; this would force still-functioning businesses in cities to use rural small businesses, investing there first, then resuming production in urban areas. I don't see this happening though, and the result will be a massive food shortage as most small businesses in rural areas focus on food production and distribution.
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

Yeah First-Aid is right regarding urban vs. rural areas. But I think that because urban areas, especially giant cesspools like New York and San Francisco, will have a much higher number of infected, the rural areas will be cleared sooner, and hopefully the idiots in charge will realize by then that rural businesses can start back up again, and that might help them get back on their feet if they're operational while urban stores aren't. The only danger is if people from the cities start swarming the country stores, bringing the infection with them. Then the cycle starts all over again.

"Cesspools" are a little harsh. But population density is the major predictor of spread, so it is logical that cities like that have rapid spread. Quarantining of the cities means control of traffic in and out, and limits spread. New York is hardest hit because of a few reasons: more international travel goes through New York than any other city, both incoming and outgoing; many major businesses with manufacturing in China have headquarters in NYC, meaning businesspeople spend extended time in both locations; population density means rapid spread in a short amount of time.
ANyways, enough with the sidetrack. Has anyone heard if Rick Moranis is in this movie? He's coming out of retirement for another of Disney's "Honey, I Shrunk Something" movies apparently, so maybe we'll luck out and see Louis Tully in the new movie?
