The only video game that has ever really scared the crap out of me was Resident Evil 3. I'll never forget the first time the Nemesis crashed through the window of the Police Station. It seemed like the Nemesis could show up anywhere at any time, and he followed you from room to room. His theme music was scary, too.

Claiming Fox News has real journalists is like claiming Twilight has real vampires, it's just illogical.

I'd have to say the part where the dogs jump through the hallway windows in the original Resident Evil scared the crap out of me. Recently, I can't say I've been too creeped out by anything—except for the first time I fought The Sorrow in MGS3. That was kind of freaky.

Fatal Frame and the silent hill games have made me jump on occasion. And when i play old school shooters like the dooms etc i still occasionally get startled when i get suprised attacked.

Bloody hell, for me it was RE4. It's the first RE I've played and the way the music constantly keeps you on edge... yeah, I didn't finish that game. The bit with the wolverine-claws prisoner guy with his eyes out was pretty epic though. I had a few friends over, we've had a few bevvies and I thought I'd have a bash at the game. There was lots of shrieking, cursing and randomly shooting at everything in sight. Not very dignified.
...Did you know there is no level of drunk where RE4 is NOT scary?

You know, it's kind of weird but Zombie games don't typically scare me. Left 4 Dead, RE4...nothing. Even Doom 3 lost that "Scary" flavor after a beating it a few times. That said, I'm likely not going to be playing F.E.A.R. a second time. F.E.A.R. 2...I don't think my HMO covers that.

Resident Evil for the Gamecube definitely had it's fright moments. Though I still hold Eternal Darkness in high regard for it's ability to play tricks on the player. The 'deleting save game' message honestly had me jump out of my seat screaming 'what the hell?!'
You want scary? how about the first time I tried playing 'Through the fire and the flames' on expert in Guitar Hero III. It sounds off-topic, but having someone hand you the guitar and choosing that song for you to play for the first time is a complete mindf***. I'm sure many friends have videotaped their friends' faces when that song started.

Good grief! I am such a wuss when it comes to playing video games. Left 4 Dead scares the crap out of me (especially when you are stupidly playing it at night with no one else around)...and...I love Halo to death, but I hate it when the Flood comes around. My parents have to run up the stairs to see why I'm screaming so loud. Also, when I was younger, and I played Ocarina of Time...yes...I was afraid of the spiders and the evil plants that popped out of the ground.

Yeesh, that is bad. L4D isn't even scary to me at night. At all.

In Halo 1, the Flood were scary, at first. And only on my first play through, when I had no idea what was happening. (Great level the first time around, actually) In Halo 2, they were less scary, muh less scary. By Halo 3, they were not scary, just aggravating.
I guess Zombies don't actually scare me...oh, wait.
Half-Life 2. The Zombies, while lacking any real damage dealing ability, have one unique power: They have the power to make me happy to see the Combine. Ravenholm is difficult not because you die, but because you're more that likely to say "Okay, I would like to stop playing now this level is creepy."
Ol' fashion regular Zombies are fine, if not a bit creepy, and dangerous if they gang up on you and get too close. Fast Zombies...something that looks like that, coming at you at such speed, screaming like that, creepy as hell. And the Toxic Zombies...it occurred to me recently that I've never gotten a good close-up look at a Toxic Zombie because they creep me right the hell out. Toxic Headcrabs are just as bad, they used to make me freeze up entirely. (Not so much anymore) I will actually pour explosives into an area where I know a Toxic Zombie will be simply to avoid getting close to one.

I'm sure that if I played more I wouldn't get this faceall the time...but I don't play it on a regular basis. My brother has the game, so when I actually do visit him, I sometimes play. Most of the time I just watch him play, haha.
Even the first time I played, it wasn't scary. I didn't even know half of what the Special Infected would do, or anything about Hordes or Crescendo Events. And still, I wasn't scared, though I did get the adrenaline pumping a few times.

The scariest game I've ever played was Fatal Frame 2. I was in a constant state of fear through the whole game. It didn't need a bunch of cheap jump scares to get the job done.

The Silent Hill games have always creeped me out. I never found the RE games scary, just surprising when the booga booga moments happen like enemies crashing through windows. The first RE game was scary because, well, it was the first and I didn't know exactly what to expect. I loved the story too. But afterwards, the game became more of an action/survival game, not much emphasis on horror, just gore.
Silent Hill at least keeps suspense and doesn't frame the gameplay around blasting enemies away. The storyline and the execution of the game is what I find offers me a gaming experience where I can feel scared when I suspend disbelief. The fiction of SH is also pretty disturbing.

YES! I hate those freaking "fast Zombies". They jump outta nowhere and make that scream and make me jump like five feet in the air. Awesome game, but I hate that part since it introduces those kind of Zombies to the game.. Although I do like shooting Circular Saw blades at them...
The Flood never really scared me, just pissed me off.
I don't delve into horror games often. I still wanna get into Resident evil. I refuse to play Silent hill though. No thanks.
Fallout 3 gets me sometimes. Especially with the Trogs from the Pit. I hate those things. Deathclaws are good at sneaking up on me and scaring me to death and then taking forever to die. Ghoul Reavers too.
I also hate Radroaches, they don't scare me just gross me out.
Bioshock wasn't really scary, just was good at freaking me out. The little things they added with the splicers did make me jump sometimes. Like the Dentist. I won't spoil it for those who haven't played. but Youtube that if you really wanna know.

I'm not great with scary games in general.. but.. I guess there's just times in some games where an enemy is out of my sight, and then I turn the camera and it appears just like that. Currently, I'm playing Dead Space on 360 and I'm pretty spooked about that game. Also, it's usually point and shoot games that spook me, but when I play Halo 3, I have no fear at all.

Well then mission accomplished for them, it's supposed to be a scary game.
SHEwolf991 wrote:Also, it's usually point and shoot games that spook me, but when I play Halo 3, I have no fear at all.
Point and shoot? You mean shooter games? FPS games are typically scary, mostly because whatever is there is right there in your face. PC versions of FPS games get this worse, because you're no more than two feet from the screen.
Not being scared during Halo 3 is nothing big; Halo games aren't scary, even the Flood loses it's fear factor after one mission.
