Hey, does anyone here have precocnitive abilities? Because I don't.
No one can say if this movie will succeed or fail. If someone says it will or won't, completely disregard what they say.
Because they can't see the future.

I don't care if every reviewer hates it and it gets a RottenTomatos rating of 0%, I WILL see it.

The movie will succeed in the box office, yes, in terms of numbers alone.
People will say it was cool and fun to see the characters they remember, even "that tape deck guy", but ultimately loud, frantic, and dumb. Remember Van Helsing? It will be just like that. Take that as you will.
A lot of people will say it was really stupid, either because they say that about all of Bay's movies, or because they can't pull their heads out of their asses and stop expecting Citizen Kane and Shakespeare with everything.
Fans will be divided, perhaps right down the middle, with the usual stuff you've heard on here a million times.
And I live right across the street from the theatre so I'll be there, probably having had some beers prior and now gorging on popcorn, nachos, and sour candy while having my sensing pounded. Will I love it or hate it? Time will tell.
That's my official prediction.

Great thread.
Anyway, how are you defining success? Box office numbers? Commissioning of a sequel? A new wave of TF fans?

I believe the movie will succeed too and I will see it also.I feel george lucas should have got involved with this movie though I understand george lucas is for starwars and this is a transformers movie forum but i could of seen a great trilogy if lucas arts got to work this film.

I'm not sure if Lucas or Bay would have been better. Probably less frantic action, less shaky camera work for Lucas.
Hey, you might have something there. And I'll take a TF trilogy. Bring that one right on.

The camera work would have been less shakey and the chase scenes easier to stomach but he'd insist on the entire thing being blue-screened and the dialogue would be completely wooden. He's helped revolutionize the special effects industry, granted, but up until The Phantom Menace he hadn't actually directed a film in 20 years and it really shows. Plus he constantly tries to inject humor into scenes and it feels like an elderly person making jokes; they're not funny at all but you're compelled to force a smile out of sympathy.

I think this movie has two weeks to become a blockbuster.
Because that's all the time it's going to have before the next Harry Potter opens. And I don't care what you think about HP, THAT is going to be the biggest movie of the year and Transformers, regardless of how good it may be, won't last long when they're both open against each other.

ya'know, as far as success, i'm sure it'll do just fine. but what i'm dreading is the so-called 'new wave of TF fans' that start to come here. i'm talking about the same people who didn't even know who Johnny Cash was until Walk the Line came out a few years ago and suddenly became self-proclaimed die-hard Cash fans. the same thing with X-Men, Spider-Man, you name it. We're gonna get an assload of posers in these forums pretty soon, and i bet everyone of them won't know the difference between the 07 movie characters from the originals who inspired this film. honestly, it's sad. i'm SERIOUSLY dreading this, but I KNOW it'll happen.

Yeah, he'd pick all the takes with the worst acting, and make the whole thing child-friendly pop fluff like Phantom.

You mean the influx of fans that came with Armada? Or Energon? Or Cybertron?
Different series.
Different fans.
The movie is just another series. There'll be another bunch of fans. And they'll enjoy the site like all those who joined up each time a new series came out.
And besides, posers won't stick around ... well, unless your name is Fender Bender anyway. But it's hard to get rid of that bad cheese smell.
