personally, i thought the game would be alot better than it actually is. with all of these fast paced combo games out now i'd figure that there would be combos of buttons to push for combos of moves. but appearently i was wrong about that. this sucks.

People will probably be a little more cautious the next time around, but positive reviews and impressions can bring them back. It is up to Traveller's Tales (assuming they make the next one) to deliver the goods.

The game was at the top of the UK charts until the Harry Pothead game was released....a week or so later its still in second place. Obviously people cant think its that bad.

My complaints about the TF movie game for the PS2:
For the price it's not up to par, even on the PS2 which is the version I plan on getting if it ever hits greatest hits status or if I find it used at a much lower price.
Don't bother giving us access to weapons next time if none of them are going to go through armor/chields and force the player to jump into melee comba with one attack button option. It's boring and repetative.
Like most movie games it's just way too short. Sure you can run around collecting everything in an area, but it took me all of two days to beat it on both factions. If you're going to deviate from the film's storyline anyway, add more into it and really make it stand out.
Play as any character we want from the start. One of the things I loved aobut the Armada game was that I could pick between three different bots who each had a different feel and play to them and then there was the mini-con customization. More control over our characters in the game is needed.
Transformation in mid air. Would this really be that hard to implement? The Decepticons can do it from a flying vehicle into robot mode why can't the ground vehicles do it in mid-air?
I'll get to a mission area when I'm damn good and ready. Starscream or Optimus hounding me every 45 seconds that I need to get my butt to a mission area obviously isn't getting me there any faster. Knock it off.
Limiting my combat area. If I need to step out of the area for a second to get a car to heave at my opponent, let me. I'm not running away, I was just out of things to throw and my weapons are obviously worthless so I need to improvise.
Things I think they did right:
Decent voice actors. Each character had a great feel to them through their VAs.
Level design. Each level felt large and varied and it was easy to get sucked into it as I drove/flew around. Some of the buildings fell apart way too easily though, like the gas stations, while others I drove straight into and nothing happened, bot overall I loved this.
Character models. Ripped straight from the movie versions, they still moved great and the original ones they came up with were great too.
Overall though, I'm glad I rented it first. I'd have been ticked if I'd spent $40 and tax on it. Don't even get me started on the steaming mess the PSP game turned into. Ugh.

If you have the megs and Prime G1 skins on, it would be nice if they both appeared in them for the end fight so it could be old skool G1 vs G1.
Blackout has a class dive forward with his blades and Megs has his mace. At least them two are varied.

tf
I personally thought that TF Armada on PS2 was a better game. If they would have gone with that style of gameplay with the options of more playable characters it would have been alot better.
What Transformer are you? (Movie)
My Results:

Ironhide
You are the weapon specialist. You are probably the only Autobot who doesn't give a crud about the humans and repeatedly asks permission to blow something up. You are very strong and big as well as always suggesting the BIGGER sort of weapon. You are also good at sports; mostly contact sports. You can be easily irritated and may have anger issues. You also have a huge truck mode. Sweet.

It would be better if it had...
an option to turn on the g1 transformation sound, maybe unlock it as an extra
more playable characters
a versus option
more unlockable g1 characters
better weapons, more melee combat moves

I agree with every thing here. I read all the reviews and most of them seemed to be confusing themselves with each other. Slightly annoyed that things I thought were in the PS2 game are only avalible on the PSP/DS/360. I have the Armarda game and yes it is alot better, but it lacks the destroy everything in it.
Flying is too hard, the Screamer mission where you have to shoot down the jets is hard because they can get to really high altitudes and we are stuck in mid hieght. And the controls are easily forgoten.
I really want to play as Brawl - whats wrong with being a battle tank and destroying everything (more). And being Rachet with the huge Buzz-saw would be fun in combat - more so than a sword. Armarda's charactor selection is alot more fun and makes the game fun and easier for certain missions.
I do not like the "Must get to here before he gets there" missions. Boring and pointless. And the fact that you have to be on the ground to transform - why you can't jump and then transform in mid-air is beyond me, especialy when you actually jump in the air to transform.
I think the game could have been designed alot better.

Just so you know, you can actually change your altitude when flying as screamer...

And Blackout and Megs. The controls were easy to remember for them.
The 'get here before him' missions are somewhat essential, considering they are both racing for the same thing in the plot.

How about when you are G1 Prime and Megatron you actually use the right weapons instead of Prime shooting bullets out of his fists and Megatron using a machine gun instead of his fusion cannon.

TF2 has potential but I knew this game was going to suck. It had 2 things going against it:
#1. No TF game has ever been good. The Armada game everyone is talking about I think it sucked. I mean it was a good concept, but it felt like a game that was 30% finished at the time they released it. Roaming around in a huge world, where everything looks the same, fighting the same mindless decepti-drones again and again and again, after you got over the ability to transform it quickly turned boring. They also screwed up not making an X-box version.
#2. Most (not all) movie/TV licensed games suck. The only exceptions i can think of in my head are Goldeneye and Spiderman 2. This dates all the way back to the ET game on atari that nearly killed the video game industry until Nintendo showed up with a Robot selling the NES as a toy in 1984
Transformers the game seemed to have a good idea in mind but the deadline killed it. Thats what kills most movie-based games. The whole point of the game is to advertise the movie, and developers many times are rushed to get the game out by the release date of the movie, so they cut corners and take shortcuts and settle for something thats at least somewhat playable.

The armada game was awesome, it was varied for each character at least e.g put dash on Optimus and run into a drone and it will be sent flying. Using the tracter beam is fun too. The boss battles were interesting too. Who enjoyed being thrown off the pyramid by cyclonous?
You know I wished I could use the oves off the people i fight e.g Bumblebee sent me flying with his "sonic boom". Why cant I do that when I play as him?
