If Soundwave is in the next movie what should his Alt mode be?
Thank you very much ^^ (sorry, I should have looked).
That is really good, looking at that Is the first time I've been able to see Soundwave as a Boombox, however I'm still sceptical.
Seriously though, that is really good. I love the amount of detail you put in. I can barely draw G1 Prime.

There is nothing wrong with being skeptical. My point is that is can work, and that why else would they have saved Soundwave for the sequels if not to give him mass conversion? IF they were going to make him a vehicle, he would have been in the first movie. If they weren't going to give him mass conversion, Frenzy would have been Soundwave as originally intended. They saved him for the sequels because they want him to be a stereo and mass convert. They want to do him right.

the junker was because bumblebee has been on earth for a long time and it was the first car he scanned

He'd been on earth 5 years

He arrived in '03, not the '70s.
It was the first car he scanned yes, but he still chose it from all the others on the road at the time.

From an in universe perspective, you are correct. But, from a plot perspective, it was so Sam could buy him. There is no way a highschool student would be able to afford a 2009 Camaro.glitched9700 wrote:Tramp wrote:No, if he does start out as a boom box, he'll stay one. In my situation there's no way a high school student would be able to afford a '65 either XD

Zarata, an AWACs is an aircraft, Sure, as a robot, the individual could act on the ground, but he would be colossal, as in well over a hundred feet tall. AWACS are made from airliners. They're huge. That is the limitation there. A Submarine is even bigger. They're several hundred feet in length. Imagine how restricted that would make a Transformer. Also, Frenzy was a major Decepticon character, as was Barricade. They were among the few who had speaking parts. They were also central to the Decepticons finding the location of Allspark and Megatron. In fact, they did more than any of the other Decepticons throughout the whole movie. They were, perhaps, the most important Decepticons in the movie.
I never said that the a surveillance van would be inconspicuous. I just said in terms of his character, it would be a good idea since he can't be a stereo.

Yes, he can be a stereo. Who ever said he couldn't? IF you're thinking it is because of the whole "no Mass Shifting" thing, That was only for the first movie. They simply had too much to deal with that trying to cram mass conversion in along with it would have been too much. By saving it for a sequel, the audience will be much more able to accept it.So, yes, Soundwave can indeed have mass conversion. That was why they held him off for a sequel in the first place. And, in terns of his character, he would want the most inconspicuous alternate mode possible, and a surveylance van is not inconspicuous.

Official reports and fan rumors state that he will not be a stereo. Why? Frenzy is, and they as Frenzy is one of Soundwave's minicons, he would have to have some means of linking to Soundwave. A stereo cannot go into a stereo, and they will not change Frenzy's alt mode.

What Official reports? The only official reports I've read is that he is likely to be in the movie. There has been no report as to what his alternate mode will be. Unless you can provide a link stating otherwise, he has juast as much chance of being a steroe ans anything, and then some becuase that was why he was held off in the first place, so that he could have mass conversion.

In G1, yes. But then again, In G1 Ironhide was red. Bumblebee spoke. Sam was called Spike. Prime never showed his mouth. Do you get it yet?
This isn't Generation 1!

I didn't read all 15 pages, but I get the jist of the debate.
While I think I'd be okay with him being a vehicle, something about that doesn't seem right.
They would have to pull off his voice and personality to the "T" for me to dig that.
My idea for his alt mode--
Maybe they incorporate a few elements together...
Like a huge television/monitor, and some very large speakers, as in stack amps.
While it sounds a little off the wall, why not have him be able to actually separate in his alt mode?
I hope they can figure out something cool that's not a vehicle.
Although if they go with that, I'd like to see him similar to what they're doing with the animated series.
I'm not in the loop;
there is confirmation of a second movie?

Ok... I can understand a "Boombox", but an Ipod?
Have you seen how tiny they are? Even with mass shifting, it'd still be a stupidly thin/tiny robot.
With the dock... It'd still be quite small, but at least it would be a bit more bulky.

U forget that soundawave has had several different alts including a mobile communications vehicle, an icbm truck, a lamp post-like thing, and a jet, so people realized he doesn't have to be a stereo.
Plus remember this is not G1

How many of those "other" versions of him do people remember. None of them really showed up in any orther media. If you ask anyone who Soundwave is, they'd say, "The tape deck guy."
I was talking to a few people at my church's Summerfest anbout the movie, and they all agreed that Soundwave needed to be a stereo and have mass conversion.

Remember though megs is not a gun or a tank, ironhide isn't a van, and bumble bee isn't a vw bug
all i'm saying is most likely soundawave won't be a tape deck or a sound system, unless u have another frenzy. I don't think they r going to change the way they present their characters

Most likely he will be if Hasbro has their way. And Frenzy certainly isn't coming back. As for Megatron, he has had so many different incarnations that have been covered in all the mdeia, that he really has no iconic form. Bumblebee still has his iconic colorshceme and personality. He is also still a car. Ironhide has been an old geezer and a young whippersnapper in G1 and Energon respecively, and were major characters in both series. So, there goes the iconic appearance and character right there. Also, the Topkick fits Ironhide more than a minivan because it is a huge, powerful truck. His G1 personality is still there. And, while the movie is not true G1, it was based mostly off of G1.

Also jumping in (plan to read the rest of the thread later), but Imho, that military vehicle on page 1 looks like a good fit. I've been thinking all along if he can't be a boombox, make him some sort of military vehicle that specializes in monitoring stuff...radar, sonar......you know, soundwaves.
As far as his minions are conderned, I think Blackout & Scorponok showed that this could be done by simply detatching components from inside of Soundwave.
But that's just me.

The problem with a military vehicle, particularly on a surveylance mission is that it would draw attention. IF it were just driving through town that is one thing. but to be parked for long periods of time in a civilian area? that is sure to draw lots of unwanted attention.Nemesis Cyberplex wrote:Also jumping in (plan to read the rest of the thread later), but Imho, that military vehicle on page 1 looks like a good fit. Well, he could use a holographic projector to make himself look like a normal car, right? They did it with drivers, why not just make a new alt mode out of a hologram?Tramp wrote:The problem with a military vehicle, particularly on a surveylance mission is that it would draw attention.
