It's never been before, but I agree that it should be. There's some BotCon 07 footage in the special features of the movie dvd. You can even catch a glimpse of the elusive Counterpunch sporting a Seibertron t-shirt.

Re: is botcon being on tv?
Botcon is a small potatoes convention. Smaller than most comic cons and has a more limited clientele. It is for transfans only.
What would they have to show? A dealer room that is miniscule compared to most comic cons? Forums that they would not be allowed to bring their cameras into? They could go on a tour or visit a class. Oh brother that would be dull.
Short of a local news crew mentioning that transfans are in town, it is not likely to be shown on tv.
Hasbro posted some interviews with fans and a couple of the actors who came out some years ago. Nothing that any television show would be interested in though. Most people that aren't transfans wouldn't even know who the actors were.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that G4 has covered BotCon before. Seibertron.com has been on G4 once before as well.
In fact, here's G4 at BotCon 2007: http://www.g4tv.com/attackoftheshow/blo ... _2007.html

Hey now ... you've been to BotCon before. You make it sound kind of "blah" with your post. Botcon's an extremely fun time and there's always media coverage of it whether it's local or larger companies present such as Paramount, G4, Rhino (Warner Brothers) or whoever. The Transformers brand is pretty darn HUGE ... big enough to warrant making a movie that made over 700 million dollars in 2007. I'd definitely say it's not a small time thing ... maybe 10 years ago, but not now.
Now compared to comic cons ... that's right, it is a pretty small thing. But as far as conventions go that are dedicated to a particular brand, I'd say this is quite a big deal. Comparing BotCon to a ComicCon isn't fair at all. A better comparison would be like going to an X-Men convention, which I don't think I've ever heard of before.

Well, the only place I ever heard of Botcon was on Seibertron.com.

Didn't mean to sound so blah. It just doesn't seem like something a tv show would be interested in. Isn't G4 that all video game channel on cable somewhere? That is not TV. CNN is TV. The best place to find out about what is happening is right here on this web site. Folks post pictures and videos during the con and after.

Re: is botcon being on tv?
It's not impossible to get TV coverage. For Auto Assembly 2008 we had a local TV news station come along and gave us pretty good coverage on a Prime (sorry!) slot, the BBC (as was mentioned on here I think as a news story) featured us on their website and interviewed us on one of their radio programmes on the day itself and we've also been featured on a few DVDs as well!
I don't know if it helps but we do give camera crews unlimited access to all areas of the convention, and no part of the convention is restricted to anyone - it's a set ticket price that covers everything so once you get in, you don't pay anything else apart from what you buy from the dealers no matter what you do.
