Quite the sexy improvement. Makes me hopeful for a what they might do for TFCC Scourge.

I wish they only sold the truck bits for these two. I don't really want the trailer for them. Just the robot mode upgrades.

Feeling compelled to try and track down that SG Prime; that set just looks great. This is one time I'll consider a KO if one is released as long as its a solid fit with the MT set.

Note that the new SG/SP Battle Tankers will have limited numbers. Currently only UGC has them up and TFSource will be carrying them as well. We don't know about BBTS yet.

Three things I noticed about the BBTS preorders. One, they're kind of expensive. Not clear on why. Especially since the electronics look like they're gone. We aren't getting $30-$40 more toy for the price jump. Two, they're listed as exclusives. I have to wonder if any other online retailers are getting these and what differences there might be. Third, they're awesome and I ordered them. I love Shattered Glass and I couldn't stop myself!

Having bought the original, they're pretty sweet. I do kinda hope the release some of the new pieces for the older mold. Like, the Hood details which become the chest and the shoulder pieces would be great. To any who don't have the original, these are as sweet as they look.

Expensive? Compared to what? MT's MSRP is 12600 Japanese yen = 157.8755 US dollar... BBTS's price is $140.

Compared to the price of the original Battle Tanker? It was $102.99 from BBTS.

They're probably more expensive because they're going to be far more limited in number than the original run of the Battle Tanker set. Less units produced=less units sold=less profits from sales=higher MSRP. Just guessing though.

I remember when trailers were about $80. Good times, good times.

Add to it the additional remolding being done for both sets and there's your extra price.

By now, several people have commented on the possible price hike vs. the original battle tanker mold, and I really can't add anything else to that discussion. However even as a possible "limited" edition for each set, $40 more is quite a price hike. Did I impulse pre-order each? You know I did!

Regarding the "exclusive" on the BBTS orders, I really don't know if that will be true or not. We're already aware that Upgrade Commander has the sets and they are probably the exclusive e-tailer for Europe/Asia. However, TFSource had hinted at pre-orders for these as well. So, exclusivity may not be a factor for North America.

Exclusive is probably a mistranslation... It is definitely a Limited run. We haven't seen any information from TFSource or KapowToys to see if they are going to carry these. I hope so.


EDIT: I just saw a post from Sidecutter (Capturedprey)

Well, I finally got a reply back from Maketoys. They stated that the sets are exclusive to Upgrade Commander and BBTS.

So, it is exclusive.. Make sure you pre-order...

C'mon the KOs are just based on the Original BT. I would have liked it to be lower in price, but being that these are limited in number and exclusive only to BBTS and UGC... The price is expected to rise.

Well, sure the KOs are ripping off MT's original mold, but what I'm saying is that they've kinda saturated the market. I don't particularily like it either, but you'd think MT or BBTS (whichever is ultimately responsible for the price) would think that, maybe, the price would be a deciding factor for some and seeing other alternatives out there would influence that. At least a little.

Okay, different comparison? MT's yellow Giant wasn't more expencive than Green Giant. In fact, I believe it may have been cheaper to get Yellow at it's initial retail price than Green.

Since the mold is already made (even if some parts are new here) I don't see where the extra price is coming from. It seems like the inflation is artificial to me.

TFSource made a post on their Facebook account on 10/26 about possible pre-orders. With the most recent news, guess these figures won't be offered through them. Now, the waiting game for them to be in-hand.

Saturated? The KO has only been released recently. And this is probably why MT is doing a limited/exclusive run of the SG/SP Battle Tanker.


Regarding Giant, both the yellow and green versions were made available en masse... The SP/SG Battle Tanker has been touted as exclusive to UGC and BBTS and has a limited number. There's your price.

Do I like the price? I wish it was lower. Should we order them? If you want to and have the funds to cover, then why not.

We'll have to agrtee to disagree, then. Despite it being a limited release, i still feel like there's just not enough new here to justify such an increase in price.

I agree with you here. Waaaaaaaay overpriced for a partsformer. Factor in the price of the SG toys, and you're looking at over $200 for a near-voyager. What Battle Tanker does is turn a mediocre toy into a cool one with limited posability. Everything just loosens up after 3 months of play. Can't justify the price increase for just chest and shoulder parts. For those who like it, more power to you. However, I think making such purchases is definitely promoting the high price points of various 3rd parties. I compare this (Battle Tanker) to MMC's Knight Morpher, Cyclops, Screecher, FPC's Steelcore, TW's Hegemon, even Xovergen's Trailerforce, and I find that the above toys have waaaaaaaaaaaay more value than Battle Tanker for their price point. In short, I hope that this "remold" gets KO'ed as well.
