What did the autobots/ maximals and decepticon/predacons transforms into before they came to earth? I would assume they would return to their old disguises when they came back home unlike what happened in beast machines.

why?

who says they have to revert to their old alt modes once they'd returned to cybertron. if they're going to be returning to earth (for whatever reason, like in G1 where 1 episode was in space, the next on easrth and so forth)it'd make sense to hang on to earthmode!
