Anyone else having a blast watching all of the coverage about Pluto? What an exciting time to be alive. It is moments like this that continue to amaze me what humans can accomplish. It's also been very refreshing to follow all of the positive space news this past week instead of hearing about typical depressing daily news coverage or politics. Just wanted to see who else is a space nut like me here on Seibertron.com!

I'm thoroughly enjoying it myself. Last year we landed something on a comet and this year we're seeing Pluto, and it's raising more questions!
Yay science!

I was in awe when Rosetta and Philae were the big thing, and when Philae woke up just a couple of weeks ago - so yes, very much excited about Pluto!

It is fantastic. Everyone loves Pluto! Space exploration is something that sparks the imagination like few other things can. It truly is great to see people pay attention to something like this rather than waste time watching the Kardashians or whoever is the big thing on tv these days.

Yes, hopefully you will. And here I thought you were declaring yourself ruler of Pluto...SlyTF1 wrote:Hopefully, I'll be able to leave this planet soon.

Re: Pluto and Space Stuff
I'm ecstatic that we've finally gotten clear photos of Pluto (and Charon). It drove me nuts how we had these wonderful clear photos of the eight planets, but then Pluto's stuck with nothing. Hopefully Pluto's other moons get just as good pics.
Kinda reminds me of when they found the rest of Deinochierus a few years back (previously just a pair of giant dinosaur arms), in terms of childhood science mysteries finally getting solved.

Re: Pluto and Space Stuff
I've always been a big fan of anything that has to do with space science. I was thrilled when ESA landed their probe on a comet (even more so when it came back to life this year). And I was listening and watching intently when New Horizons did its historic flyby by Pluto and Charon. I logged onto the live video feed from CTV news with only 3 seconds to spare (hey, I was at work, after all
). It's absolutely fascinating to get the first clear looks at Pluto. And I really hope they stick with naming that heart-shaped region Tombaugh Regio (after, of course, Clyde Tombaugh, the discoverer of Pluto).

I love it that there's been a positive response with all of this and the pictures.. beautiful. I look forward to what the probe sees as it heads out past Pluto heading to the furtherest regions of our backyard (aka the solar systen).
Though I'm also pretty excited for the planned missions to titan and europa.

It does kinda suck to spend 9 and a half years to get to Pluto just for a fly by. I bet we could learn a lot more if they could have but the spacecraft in orbit but I understand why they didn't.
