Possible SCAM?!! Need help fellow Transfans!!!

Postby ExtremeGz » Sat Jan 12, 2008 12:14 am

Hello again Fellow TransFans,

Just been looking around for some good deals and came across this seller:

http://tfieds.com/useritems.php?user_siteid=8092

Never seen this person before and have received emails from them stating that all items are genuine. Even sent some pics...but I did a little searching via Google for the email address (streettops@yahoo.com) and it came up as a possible pet SCAMMER. Also, I found the email references to an online auto site based out of New York. I searched the net on the auto site owners name and came across a telephone number...called and talked to the person, who apparently did not know about that email address. Additionally, I found an IP address with reference to that email host and it brought up Nigeria.

So far, I have yet to hear back on the items request from the person; as I gave my home address for a S/H quote, but I asked where they lived in Ft. Wayne Indiana (as referenced on Tfied.com, even though the email crosses with the guy in New York).

I have not sent any cash, but did mention that I prefer Paypal, but I think I recall them listing payment options on Tfied as western union or international money order.

All I need is a little help now to see if maybe I got confused somewhere. If this person is indeed a scammer then we need to get the word out! PLEASE help on researching this person to keep a possible SCAM from happening! I guess that if it smells like ^&*# and looks like ^&*# then it must be ^&*#!!! Just wanted to get others opinions...

Don't spend a single cent on 'em. Bad idea...

Yeah, do not do it. It could end very badly.
BTW, good work researching, that was a good call.
Saved money there.

I think the seller zapata on Tfieds right now is the same people or the same scam. I was in contact with that user inquiring about their cheap alternators and it just sounded too fishy. They claimed to be a business and gave me a website and it had the same type of list as your scam above had. Well, here's the link:

http://www.alibaba.com/catalog/10049996 ... y_Car.html

If you notice, the site was only put up a week ago, the address isn't valid, and the phone number is some "talk line" message or something. We had sent about 12 email back and forth and once I brought up the stuff about the website I received no further response. Glad I didn't send any cash...I was looking at a 150 order. Too bad all it woulda bought me is a ton of curse words...

Whenever you hear the words "deal" and "Nigeria" in the same paragraph, you know you have a scam. It seems like every 4 emails in my junk email folder come from displaced Nigerian princes, businessmen, or bank managers. I don't know why this country gets listed so much in scam deals... but really... whatever the case, they're definately giving the country a bad name.
