Project Chanology
For those of you who don't already know, 4chan.com, mainly anonomyous, has declared "war" on the Church of Scientology. So far, it's been a group of guy-fawkes mask wearing /b/tards protesting, and mostly it's been mocked. What are your guy's opinions?

Yep, knew about it since they released the video.

Honestly, I think it is a good thing they're doing, I had worries when it began, but it's been nothing but non-violent protests against a group that has pretty much walked over society for it's own benefit.
Threatening to sue whoever so much as has a differing opinion to them, the way they treat members of the church, a pay-per-view tier for reaching spiritual enlightenment or whatever.
People are finally standing up and getting attention. There hasn't been mocking, CNN, NBC, and a boatload of other newspapers and news stations have been showing the protests.

They're not "suing anyone who has a differing opinion," otherwise they'd have sued every other religion on Earth. They're suing people for slander and libel, which is well within their rights.
Which is worse, getting a little crazy over what you perceive as slander, or saying a religion should no longer operate because you don't like it?

Well, the religion will still be around no matter what happens. The belief Scientologists hold will be there still.
However the church in it's current incarnation shouldn't be allowed to operate as it is. Because that is whats harming people, "SP's" and their own members.
When a church, says "we need to do whatever we can to get rid of any and all opposition" there is something wrong. "Convert or kill"

Bullshit from the first sentence. You can't compare the right to sue someone for writing an inherently slanderous book to Communism.
Also, here's another problem: References? The only reference link that doesn't go to Xenu.net, goes to Wikipedia.
EDIT: And just so you know, people have been killing in the name of religions--without the religion's consent--for centuries. And it still goes on today. Hate the player, not the game.

Exactly, it's messed up. It shouldn't happen, save for a handful, it doesn't happen anymore. So whats wrong with bringing it to light and trying to nip it in the bud?

I never said I condoned any killing based on any faith, representative or not. In this case, however, we're not talking about hardcore mavericks. Remember the Fair Game policy?

Also, while trying to compare a lawsuit to communism may be an unsound call, notice that the woman in question was continually harrassed for years, as well as being framed and ARRESTED for a bomb threat. Are you denying the existance of Operation Freakout?
Can you provide evidence that such an operation did not exist?
It's only slander if it's not true.

I'm curious if any other religion is so aggressive about suing over slander and libel.
