Re: Prototype images of iGear's TF-005 Shark Sentry
Personally I have seen IGear rip on to many designs that are out there that they did not create themselves. Here they have captured the alt mode to be more like a piranha and not like a shark while the robot mode still looks like grimlock animated. I won't be buying it because well the sharkticons they have tried to mix two different styles together and it didn't pay out for them and it's sorry to say but I think it's (and please admin or mods do not punish me for saying this word its just my honest opinion)crap. The tail the bot mode it's not good enough but what can you expect from a company that has never really created anything that was based of their own original designs.

I always thought Gnaw was more of a piranha to begin with, hence why there was so many of them as a swarm. They just screwed the name. (They probably had the name assigned for the Seacons already)
As for the comparison to Animated Grimlock ... nah, not seeing it. I think the robot mode has been well executed, big upper body, smaller torso and legs, just like his G1 incarnation.

Okay here is where I see Animated grimlock, the chest, the arms and the legs and torso. Take away the bottom jaw there and you got a animated grimlock. As stated IGear rip from a lot of people on their designs and I feel sorry for those who buy their more expensive items. Other companies like Fansproject and others create their own from yes pre-existing designs but atleast they are bringing us something that wasn't out there before atleast.

Okay, I can see the basic shape being like Animated Grimlock, but I think that's just a coincidence. The overall design is a lot like the G1 toy .... only made to work with modern joints and aesthetic.
Besides he looks scout sized; not voyager sized.

Come on, I am one of those guys who think that Presser looks like an oversized Warpath retool, but Animated Grimlock and this guy are totally different. They are Universe Prowl vs. RTS Jazz different. Ok, the transformation scheme is similar, both of the bots' torso is wider than their legs, their alt mode legs become their bot mode arms... but that's it! I think I-gear deserves some blaming when it bootlegs pre-existing toys, as the MP seekers or Faith Leader, but in this case it's just a prejudice which is far from the truth.
AS for the guy who is selling the Weirdwolf KO: thank you for the link, but I'm not interested. For a moment I've really thought a classicverse 3rd party Weirdwolf had been announced

Re: Prototype images of iGear's TF-005 Shark Sentry
As for what type of fish Gnaw's based on, his face always had elements of Dinicthys, a giant armored fish from the Devonian period. Y'know, since even though most of Quintessa's life was based on contemporary Earth species, it was supposed to give off a primordial vibe to jive with the Lovecraftian nature of the Quintessons, and possibly pave the way for the revelation that they were the creators of the Transformers (unless you also accept TFTM as part of the comic timeline, where they weren't)
There was even an ep of 'The Real(-ly unwatchable) Adventures of Jonny Quest' where a horde of what were essentially miniature organic Sharkticons came out of a crack in the sea floor, and their design was even more clearly scrunched-up Dinicthys evolved into amphibians.
Unfortunately, Wikipedia doesn't have the best pics, but there's always Google images:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinicthys
Oh, right, this toy. I agree with whoever said they mixed 2 different styles into a compromise that doesn't exactly look like anything for the robot mode. I honestly like the earlier version better, since all that flat blockyness made him look like he stepped right out of season 3. But that's essentially praising something for looking like AKOM's animation, so I'm on board with this, since the alt mode is indeed a LOT better.
Whatever the price, I'll probably just get 3 though, instead of going nuts with troop building. Oh hell, I'll buy as many as it takes to guarantee the Allicons get made. And despite the name, I always thought they were proportioned more like early amphibians of the Carboniferous and Permian periods, like Eryops or...yeah, yeah, I know.

But they've always looked like that, they never looked like actual sharks, they always looked like robot versions of the things from Critters.
I don't really see the problem in making them show accurate, as stupid as the design is given their name, it's still pretty awesome.
While iGear is known for their KOs, you gotta give them credit for the stuff they create themselves and I'm their biggest critic!

When that happens would you sell me one of your Botcon Sharkticons? I really wanted one but my Botcon hookup at the time fell through and I haven't been able to find one for a decent price since.
Im gonna keep them so Skybyte will get his army back. But I got a friend who has a set and might let them go if he gets the I-Gear versions. Thats not a promise, but he might. Honestly the Botcon versions will probally be all over e-bay at bargin prices when these guys come out.
Well if he decides to sell them, tell him you know a guy who wants one! I hope you're right that the eBay prices will go down after these come out.

Actually, scout size would be awesome! They'd cost less, and if they ARE scouts, then that's a lot of detail for it too! I'd totally go for this if it were scout sized!

If they are as small as I'm guessing (scout-small deluxe), you could get a fish tank, fill it with water, throw in some yellow food colouring or whatever, and dunk a bunch of them in there. Then you can pose a few crawling out over the edge... it would be sick if the tank was lit by some lights on the inside too or something... then add the alicons if they are made, and then eventually a *DRUM ROLL* Transforming Squidacon

Yes! It's OBVIOUS... the animators for the 1986 Transformers movie stole the time machine and journeyed into the future so they could plagiarize the animation model for Transformers: Animated's Grimlock!Jordy wrote:ok here are comparrisio pictures of this bot and the animated grimlock just so you can see what I am talking about. (I did, btw, look up multiple photos of Animated Grimlock and compare them with the iGear Sharkticon, and my conclusion is that perhaps you should stop drinking the tap water....)

Because it does?
I see it. I even went and looked at pics of the G1 version multiple times just to see what differences there were and really, aside from the whole design being slightly less blocky and more articulated, they've really got it spot on.

Primary differences seem to be moving the waistline down somewhat and forming the lower legs from parts of the back.

You two must be blind if you think that bot resembles ANYTHING of the sharkticons in their orignal bot mode here are two pictures of the sharkticons

Now how can you say this the original animation picture looks anything like the IGEAR figure?

Oh you're talking about the animation model?
I was talking about the G1 toy. You know ... this one.

'cause really, if you're going to compare figures ... well you should actually compare figures.
I mean yes obviously it's different from the animation model, but then again, most G1 figures were.

I'm still not sure what Animated Grimlock has to do with any of this. I'm fairly certain iGear's designers would be equally confused.

Re: Prototype images of iGear's TF-005 Shark Sentry
equally confused, what about the difference between a KO and stealing an idea and comparing it to something which does not look like the original toy as well. So if you want to compare g1 toy and this toy then how about this

this looks like this

but it does not look like this in robot mode. Oh and Meta the proportions of the original design and Igear one doe not match, the proportions of the Igear are to similar to the Animated Grimlock figure.
